I definitely needed this. My speed is good but my acceleration isn’t where i want it to be. I think im too quad-dominant. My power is generated mostly from my quadriceps. I have a massive stride as a result.

I believe the truth is that players can do little to improve their pure speed after the age of about 17. They can improve their sprint endurance and thereby improve their speed toward the end of games where others may not be able to keep up. But the fastest and surest way to improve speed is cognitive. Improve your attention on the game and anticipate the actions earlier or later depending on the situation, taking an opponent away and then sprinting at the right moment. Cognitive skills allows older players to keep up with the younger ones. By building on the cognitive foundation players will be able to 'play fast' much longer.
