At first I was thinking you read my mind since was wondering like last week when looking at the pallet jacks that are more like a hydraulic table that lift maybe 3-4ft high that use a telescoping hydraulic jack and scissor jack mechanism... The biggest long throw ram I can find is an 8 ton. I think with a twenty ton long throw ram I can make a good size engine hoist. Thank you for posting this.

That's because the longer the ram the weaker it becomes. I can bend a 4 foot long piece of rebar by hand but I cant a foot long. It's a leverage thing.

Using it for that situation works you showed, works well. However it had a too small of a base to use it like a typical bottle jack. Nice idea and machining. Not sure if the material and time beat out buying one already to go. But I like the project all the same...

@@Sergei.bugleev ребята, я не занимаюсь рекламой и продажей. Открываете гугл и вбиваете "гидравлические штоки купить". Выпадет несколько тысяч ссылок. Выбираете десяток компаний, что поближе к вашему месту жительства и звоните им, договариваетесь что вам нужно и в каком количестве. Для пресса я покупал уже готовый цилиндр. Что то в районе 50 долларов мне обошлось. Не помню точно уже. Для плоскошлифовального станка я ремонтировал гидроцилиндр в компании, которая занимается подобными ремонтами. У мня были согнуты штоки (конкретно согнуты). Они изготовили новые с заменой поршня. Всё есть, было бы желание. И цены можно подобрать адекватные.

Все бы ничего, но есть некоторые нюансы... Нагнетающий канал нужно увеличить, так же как и клапана и нагнетающий шток! Так же в самом верху цилиндра есть перепускные отверстия, своеобразный ограничитель, или отверстия, которые не заметишь, если не знать что они там есть, или прорези, а так, реализация данного подъёмного механизма очень хороша. Надеюсь выше описание осталось за кадром)

I think it just holds the fluid of the reservoir, not the high pressure side

where is the oil reservoir? I mean, you extended the stroke, but that means you need more oil to be able to pump all the stroke. Where is that oil stored? What I have understood, the oil reservoir of a bottle jack is in the bottom part, where the pump and bottom of the stroke is (under the one-way valve). And what I can see, you didn't enlarge the oil reservoir, but still the diameter of the stroke is the same, so the math doesn't go together for me.
