Hello Courtney, I saw the documentary about Minimalism on Netflix, so I've learnt about the 333 challenge. As an Italian guy, I just wanna tell you that the success that such a challege has had in the US just blows my mind! That's because here in Italy that has always been the norm... Until the last 40 years. Since every medium has started to promote the typical american consumeristic way of life, many people here think that's normal to buy as much clothes as they can store into the wardrobe or in the closet. I think money are an useful instrument to reach many objectives, such a new car when the old one is broken or a bigger house when the family grows, or do good to people in need, but with consumerism money takes over our daily life. Thanks! Tom

I don’t think I’ve ever had 33 items of clothing per season in my life. Seriously. Even though I have a BFA in fashion design (from another life), I hate shopping for clothing. Weird, but I love (and am good at, according to feedback) dressing others, especially men. After watching CKSPACE, I’ve pared down my wardrobe even more. Courtney, I love getting your emails, and am a new subscriber to your YT channel. Thank you for everything you do. You’re a breath of fresh air.

I have followed Courtney for years, and the Project 333 concept has worked well for me, though TBH it's more like 3-40/45 and I don't count accessories or shoes - - my life activites and the local weather are too varied, but maybe when I retire I'll get down to 33. ;-) BeMoreWithLess has impacted so many people - thank you for what you're giving to the world Courtney! God bless!

It's funny. I actually live most of my daily life with 23 items and I had never realised! I have some summer cloths I'm not counting but the other 9 months I actually live with those 23 😱

so excited I found this and to begin this project. I REALLY need to start getting dressed without challenge, actually look like a human and just have less. less laundry, less standing in front of the closet wanting to burn it all. thank you!

I like that I can just box up things for now. I’d prefer to get rid of but when new to this lifestyle I think this makes sense. Also seasons are weird in different places so I’m kinda wondering what’s the best number. October is still summer in Cali and November is fall and December is colder fall but sometimes warrants some more winter style gear. Hard season. The rest of the year is easy as it’s the same all spring and then hot for 6 months.

Hi Courtney, I am going to be doing this interesting challenge beginning in May. What I am doing right now is getting rid of stuff I don't wear or stuff that doesn't fit me or that I don't like. I am making a list of the 33 items I will put on a small wardrobe rack I purchased on Amazon. Then I will only dress with outfits created from these pieces. The biggest trouble I am having is trying to make sure that the pieces I choose all work together. I am not an expert at creating outfits, so we shall see how it goes. Thank you for creating this!

Why bout summer clothes vs. Winter clothes? For example, in winter, I wear alot of layers to keep warm. I use a few of those layers in summer as one top... It gets confusing for me though. Should I separate winter & summer clothes totally? Another issue is that in London, summer also means winter some days! ☺️ So can't put away my winter clothes totally.

Thank you! Joined :)) ... however it's still so difficult to stop buying things ... how do you handle it?
@ianonline6 жыл бұрын
I could do this with half that number. Now if the number of items was digital - 33 things made up of websites, desktop and mobile apps, and specific folders on the computer - that would be harder and help me focus on the things that matter most.

I have tried over the past 5 years to declutter/downsize. I like why you did this, how much time you gave yourself. This feels way less pressured to me. I'll try to update here for the support really.

Just subscribed by email. Did ten minutes of deleting emails. I had feeling of anxiety and fear of starting (again, over and over). I truly am tired and unwell. I am doing this for me. I am giving myself a break and taking the rest of the day for me. I can do whatever "i" want for the rest of the day. That felt great to write. Weight of my shoulders!
@Janewomanpower5 жыл бұрын
Brief observation. Going slow for me is impt. I deal with chronic pain and depression. After i took 10 mins and deleted some emails i decided i was gonna have a do whatever you want day. I got more work done because the pressure and negative " beating myself up" thoughts decreased. AND i got to hang with my niece and walk in the park and visit with my neighbour.

What about people that wear uniforms to work? I work at the post office and am required to show up in uniform. I wouldn't count those clothes in my 33. Also, how about people that live in areas with seasons? I don't wear my winter clothes in summer but sometimes we have a cool summer day and I may wear a sweater. I'm going to Florida next week so I need to take out summer clothes to pack for a week. So I think the 33 would have to somewhat revolving for those of us that live with 4 very different seasons.
@natalyamachinskaya4 жыл бұрын
As for the uniforms that we have to wear at work or at school, I do not know and want to know. But if you need, for example, a sweater in the summer, you can replace it with another thing, thereby leaving 33 things anyway.

@@natalyamachinskaya Think; why would you limit yourself to someone else's idea of how many pieces of clothing you should have. Of course you can.

After getting to know about your 333 challenge, I have ever since done successfully and never looked back, but I still struggle with other household clutter, could anyone guide me to any such project for other household items?
@BeGoodtoYourselfbyMargo2 жыл бұрын
A great approach to get rid of household clutter is the Swedish Death Cleaning method of getting rid of your clutter. If you were successful with 333, it's probably a good fit :)

I’ve been doing the project for about a year now and I’ve never taken the items that aren’t part of my capsule out of my closet; it always seemed like a lot of work. I leave most of them hanging at the part of my closet that is difficult to access. Now I’m wondering, is there a real benefit to boxing everything up that I should really experience and that is worth the extra effort? Also, hooray for Project 333!
@CourtneyCarver6 жыл бұрын
Yes! It's worth it.

If you live with 33 items per 3 months, does that mean you can own 132 clothing items in total??
@TippyPuddles4 жыл бұрын
Different for different people. If you have four seasons you will have more. Most people who have four seasons choose their pieces for the three months and change them out every three months. Don't limit yourself forever with this concept. It was only one person's concept and some people go overboard. Some people also include shoes, jewelry, etc., you make it what you want it to be. If you have so few clothing pieces, you have to wash more often and your items wear out faster. It's good to see what you like to wear and form a bass for your working (meaning everyday) wardrobe. Honestly, I think it's silly to limit oneself to these limits.

This wouldn't work for me lol My day clothes are work uniform (black slacks and royal blue polo shirt woohoo lol). I have a few items suitable for working out, I have "lounge" clothes/sleepwear because that's what I wear when I'm not at work, I have a few smarter items for the (very) rare instances I need them, and what's left are general if I leave the house at weekends... I don't accessorise, I don't have many shoes (5 pairs including slippers), I rarely wear jewellery other than my wedding band. I'm not saying my wardrobe doesn't need an edit, but my lifestyle/clothing is different from the average person, I guess.
