Can’t help looking at all the bits being cut off, and thinking one day these bits will be used for another great project. Once they have been rescued from the bramble store of course.

Hi Max, you should think about removing the stable matting from the side door, that stuff is surprisingly heavy. Great for floors though, I use it in the back of my Land Rovers.

All through the episode, I was simultaneously giggling at the wonderful dumbness of the whole idea, and being very happy about the fact that there are people who get ideas like this and actually act upon them. I can't wait to see the aptly named Project awsome finished!

So..... one of you plays with the organ while the other one pole dances on the stage? And you're gonna take turns at this assault on the eyeballs???? Ok, I can't see that not being a runaway success 🤔 (emphasis on runaway 🤣) Seriously though lads, really enjoying this series and of course the madness that accompanies it

Nice work on fitting the ramp making good progress with stage 2 of project awesome. I like your Mig welder Max. What is the make and model? You dont often see smaller ones on wheels that can take a bottle on the back without having to be put on a separate cart.

It's a GYS 162 Smartmig, it's fine but nothing special. I had to make some brackets to hold the bottle on there.

@maximusironthumper Thanks Max I do see what you mean by it's fine as the adjustments are basic switches for voltage but I like the euro plug torch and the full size 5kg wire capacity in a compact unit.

uh-ho, couldn't watch that one-handed circular sawing, my right thumb became a severe casualty of a kick-back doing that exact type of cut in the 90s... because i was a young, right-handed mechanic, i got sate-of-the-art micro-surgery, took 6 months to save it, god bless the old NHS... also, why the right hand side stage?

I might have missed something, but could you not just use the tailgate springs with the side loader instead of the winch?

They stick out a long way, not an issue when they were on the back but no good on the side (the rest of the protruding metalwork will be going too).

Zil 131 bought (for scrap price) 20+ years ago as very much a non-runner. DAF 45 telecoms truck bought just for the engine and gearbox (after 300,000km everything else was knackered even the chassis). Second DAF 45 also bought just for the engine but came with bonus horsebox. Both DAF cabs completely rotten. Anything useful was/will be taken off and sold to help fund the project. End result will be roadworthy Zil 131 with modern diesel engine, gearbox and braking system, donated from the DAFs.
