Hi Max, you should think about removing the stable matting from the side door, that stuff is surprisingly heavy. Great for floors though, I use it in the back of my Land Rovers.

Nice work on fitting the ramp making good progress with stage 2 of project awesome. I like your Mig welder Max. What is the make and model? You dont often see smaller ones on wheels that can take a bottle on the back without having to be put on a separate cart.
@maximusironthumperКүн бұрын
It's a GYS 162 Smartmig, it's fine but nothing special. I had to make some brackets to hold the bottle on there.
@bchant1915 сағат бұрын
@maximusironthumper Thanks Max I do see what you mean by it's fine as the adjustments are basic switches for voltage but I like the euro plug torch and the full size 5kg wire capacity in a compact unit.

uh-ho, couldn't watch that one-handed circular sawing, my right thumb became a severe casualty of a kick-back doing that exact type of cut in the 90s... because i was a young, right-handed mechanic, i got sate-of-the-art micro-surgery, took 6 months to save it, god bless the old NHS... also, why the right hand side stage?
@insertusernamehere6025Күн бұрын
I might have missed something, but could you not just use the tailgate springs with the side loader instead of the winch?
@maximusironthumperКүн бұрын
They stick out a long way, not an issue when they were on the back but no good on the side (the rest of the protruding metalwork will be going too).

@ Thanks for explaining! 👍

Zil 131 bought (for scrap price) 20+ years ago as very much a non-runner. DAF 45 telecoms truck bought just for the engine and gearbox (after 300,000km everything else was knackered even the chassis). Second DAF 45 also bought just for the engine but came with bonus horsebox. Both DAF cabs completely rotten. Anything useful was/will be taken off and sold to help fund the project. End result will be roadworthy Zil 131 with modern diesel engine, gearbox and braking system, donated from the DAFs.
