I also use 5200 on my boat. Recently, I found one of my lag bolts had been screwed into a soft piece of wood on my garage door springs and was constantly working it's way loose. Not having any 5200 available, I used my Goop glue and it has held great! Goop is also a lot cheaper than the 5200 and more readily available at the hardware stores. I'll still use 5200 below the water line though.

Try putting tire shine on the trailer bunks. We do that while transferring seadoos from cradles to trailers. Just make sure you're good and strapped down when you go to splash it.

Jay, great videos, learn allot from your projects. Im going to throw my 2 cents in. I was always told that your battery should be in a battery box or the battery connections be covered in some manner. Any metal or metal like object can touch the positive side of the battery and create a fire. Do you cover your battery or terminals?
@FriscoBoatersGarage10 жыл бұрын
MrJp318 Ther terminals are covered with little boots. A better box is great, but boots work just as good.

Instead of trying to use water to help the hull slide, consider using silicone spray. Just jack up each side and spray the bunks. www.homedepot.com/p/Blaster-11-oz-Dry-Lube-Silicone-Lubricant-16-SL/202529794

No, no, no Jay. USCG No longer allows the use of wingnuts on your battery terminals. I got burned by that by both my insurance company and my USCG inspection. They now request the use of Nylon Lock nuts.
@FriscoBoatersGarage9 жыл бұрын
I will need to do some research on this.
@WreckDiver999 жыл бұрын
FriscoBoater correction...no longer ABYC compliant, but our USCG up here said the same thing and the insurance company made us change them out as well. We even had to take pictures to show them we used nylon lock or used an lock washer system (which they said they were not keen on so I went with nylon lock nuts).
@FriscoBoatersGarage9 жыл бұрын
That is interesting. I wonder is Nylock wing buts would be ok... is it just the non locking issue.
@WreckDiver999 жыл бұрын
FriscoBoater I honestly don't know. We ran into this a few years ago when we bought our first boat. It had wing nuts and all three insurance companies we got quotes from requested certain pictures of the boat, or a formal survey to be run. The pictures they requested were Fuel Tank and hoses, Engine and hosing (they were looking for double clamps on the hoses), bilge area, batteries, and 4 pics from outside (Bow/Stern/Port/Starboard), oh and the canvas (probably due to cost of replacing if damaged). All three said "The wing nuts must go or we won't insure you". We had a USCG Inspection (they do them free once per year up here), and they nailed about 10 boats with wing nuts on and said "gotta go, no longer allowed". Not a big deal, but with people pulling batteries at the end of the season the wing nuts made the job a bit easier, especially for the 3 or 4 mechanics we have up here that do a few hundred winterizations per year.
