Oh... my childhood... every school break... i will visit my uncle 150 miles away ... he's the only one who kind enough to let me and my cousins play his ps1 as many hours as we want until late night... even my friends won't let me play their ps1... can't remember how many times i beat this game... now I'm 35... what a memories 😊

He died of epilepsy. He was found deceased in his apt😞 I woke up to a text from his sister on Dec 6 2019 I'll never forget. Known him since I was 14 I was 34 when he died. St. Patty's day is his bday. His mom even put me in his eulogy😩😭 I honestly feel like I lost apart of me. One day at a time. Cherish your friends bc you never know. Be safe✌🏿

[22:48-23:12] I like how they did the reflection on that building in Operation 3. They didn't even use environment maps and it still looks good. There's trees on the reflection as well and the windows have a darkened tint to avoid confusion (thinking the artist was too lazy and just left the background to show through), and, eventually, when the players enter the building by crashing through the door, the game immediately sets the interior models to visible and the background to that of the interior. If the players waited for the automatic door to open, the developers would have had to add a plane (flat 3D object), whose texture is centred and unaltered by the its size, the texture mimicking the view the player will see as soon as they enter the building.

Yeah, it’s crazy how much this looks like Patlabor 1 and 2. The Dutch angle of the skyscrapers with yellow-orange ships in the sky (like the blimps in P2), the design and colors of the mechs… bananas.

The quality of how smooth these model edges and scaling are in this footage look as if this is a PC port rather than emulation... The animated cutscenes, however, could use some upgrades for a PC port if there was one. But still, I like this kind of aesthetic.

What peripherals were you using to shoot? I'm having a bit of trouble with lightguns on PS1, generally.

While I have used a lightgun on a PSX emulator before, this was played on Retroarch and the controller was set as the PlayStation Mouse, not a lightgun. I don't think I ever tried this specific game with a lightgun, but I wouldn't think it would be any different from what I tried before.

Vividly remember playing this with a friend, and like 4 robots popped out at once, we both panicked, and I accidentally hit the fire grenade button and hit all 4 of them in a row.

Rail shooter is a common name for this type of game. It could also be called a light gun shooter.

Why did you put it on "very hard" instead of "normal?" Do you get a different ending or more stages to play on very hard?

The message at 1:02:55 is different if you play on normal. Not a very big difference in the end. I only played very hard because the difficulty was reasonable enough for 2p.

I always thought it was weird as a kid hearing the enemy named Metallica. I was like.. isn't that a band or something ? I used to love this game as a kid, despite only having the controller and no light gun or PSX mouse, and always playing by myself. It only took an hour to beat so it was quick fun. Really my only disappointment with the game was that there was no blood or anything. Every arcade on rails shooter out there had blood and stuff so as a kid I was disappointed this home arcade type rails shooter game had absolutely nothing.
