Great work there. I am a welding beginner and have bought a totally original 3.9 ES in dark silver metallic. Very rusty, not as bad as yours. The sills, door pillars are pretty good but I took the dash out and need to start under the scuttle. It has twin sunroofs, full leather and rear air con! Restoration of old Landys is one of the least damaging mental illnesses.

Incredible amount of work you put in this vehicle, but i can understand it completly. Last year i saved a 1992 BMW E36 325td sedan and i drive it daily. The amount of rust on you´re Discovery is almost unbelievable but shows the beatiful car had been in hands of people who didn´t deserve it. I really appreciate you´re effort in saving what is arguable the best SUV of the time if not all the time. Greetings from Germany.

Fantastic work. And I mean really inspirational. The amount of skill, knowledge, dedication and perseverance you have at your age is phenomenal. I have said it before, but I hope your employers understand the quality of the talent they have in you, and treat you accordingly. Huge credit to Jamie, it is great to have mate you can rely on who has good skills too and will help you out and work as if it is their own project. Shows true friendship. Is he an apprentice at your work too? I would be interested in how you made your metal brake. Was the big metal brake at the National Railway Museum in York, by any chance? Are you working with them too now? Finally, I have to say that your parents must be incredibly proud of you. I am old enough to be your Dad, and if I was your Dad I would be shouting your name from the rooftops.

Fabulous work on this and it'll be one of the best JAY's around, a really nice thing about a late JAY is having anti roll bars which make a massive difference to how they drive, developed for the RRC CSK special editions but eventually found the way onto Disco's. A good idea would be to replace it's rear axle tie bar mounting brackets and the original OME tie bars which have a bad reputation for coming apart at the friction welded joint. BTW it was me who transported it to you in May '21. Good luck Kid you're doing really well!

They coated the underneath with a textured paint which has held up in a most places. When it comes to the inner structure, most of it was coated in just primer with a squirt of a form of cavity wax in some places (I will show this in the next video). Considering Land Rovers are used all year round on the salty UK roads as well as going off the beaten track, I don’t think they do that bad really. Either way, I’m more than happy to spend the time putting it right!😊

Thank you for such kind words. The short answer is, I didn’t have the space for it and because of how weak the inner structure was, it could’ve thrown it completely out of alignment. I did heavily consider this, as I could have sent the chassis off to be treated but the inner steel structure was just far too weak (I don’t have a jig to keep it aligned either). In an ideal world, I’d love to do that but unfortunately it’s not an option for me at the moment ☺️
