Some of my 7-08 Data for your consideration. All from a 22” Criterion barrel, 1:9 RH Twist: Lapua 308 brass, CCI-200 or BR-2 primers. 160 SGK, 39.xg Varget, 5 shots in 1.67” at 300 yards. 2.01” at 39.6x. Same load at 100: 5 shots into 0.311”, 5 shots into 0.371”. Same bullet with RL-17 produced 3, 3 round groups under 0.2”. Berger 150 Hybrid x Varget: 3 shots into 0.181” at 100. 162 Amax with H4350 gave me 5 shot groups of 0.446, 0.640, 0.510”, 0.509, 0.481”. In summary: good results with 150-168 range bullets from a 9 twist 7-08 with H4350 and Varget. No speed data on the target file I’m looking at; sorry. The 162 AMAX Shot just under 1 MOA for 5 shots at 1000 yards several times.

May want to try Ramshot Hunter for the heavies. Ramshot Big Game usually produces good velocity in the 140 & 150 bullets.

I was noticing some good potential with Hunter. Can't find any locally. Most of the data I saw was using 24 or 26 in barrels to get those big numbers though.

When I ran H4350 in the QL program, velocity wasn't very impressive for 160 class bullets. I'll take a second look at what powders achieve a full case and near 100 burn. As others have said, 140 is the sweet spot for the 7-08.

Agree, H4350 not a winner for velocity with the 160s. Not a winner for accuracy either! I am intrigued by the IMR 4831 and may run some of that under 160s.

H4350 should push a 160 at ~2600fps. It’s one of the best options for the 160’s.

@@redneckchemtech7621 Getting 2600 with 160s seems to be no problem. So far I have only broken 2700 with Staball 6.5 but accuracy was terrible with that. I did run a load of IMR 4350 with 160s and was in the 2630 +/- range and I was not at max load, but I don't think I would have approached 2700 with it. However, I am going to play with IMR 4350 and 160s again.

@ Ive loaded a lot of 7/08, it’s kinda my thing. Honestly 2700 is not realistic IMO. Fastest I’ve seen is N555 and that’s a compressed load. (Psst, Viht powders are incredible)

@@redneckchemtech7621 Thank you. Staball 6.5 broke 2700 with 160s pretty easy in my 22 inch barrel. The load was still well under max. My guess is with a 24 in barrel 160s might even push 2800. My rifle was not happy with 6.5 Staball in terms of accuracy. A guy at one of the gun shops I frequent has a 24 inch 7mm-08 and he is pushing 2800 with 160s. I agree with you though, without Staball 6.5 AND a 24 inch barrel 2700 is not realistic.

Just the opposite for me. New brass is what I found to be problematic when getting the necks uniformed. Once fired have just about always been a breeze as long as it was all from the same LOT and fired in a single chamber.

Yeah, these were a struggle as new brass, but seem better after once fired. I have never had that happen before, but it sounds like you have. Good to know.

I don't have any RL19 and from what I am seeing, I won't find any soon. I do have some IMR4895. I am going to play with the IMR 4831 with 160s and 175s a bit more. The load of IMR4831 that showed some promise with the 175s in this video did not show any pressure and I feel like I could bump it a bit and be just fine. I don't think I will get to 2600 with it, but maybe close.
