Project: Oiling wheels of the gate

The wheels do look like they are worn.

Thanks for the video. I greased without removing wheel. Sprayed both side of the wheel while still attached. It seems to works fine. I was greasing the wrong places before this video. Thanks again.

Ok thanx, I still think it will work because if you think about it, the sand or dirt will stick to the outside of the grease. Without the grease the sand or dirt can seek inside the opening of the wheele and bearing where the oil goes in and stick to the oil and damage the bearing. Ill keep and Eye on it and see what happens. Im in Puerto Rico and the gate is over concrete, there is no dirt, I was thinling of when I clean the front with the water hose the watter dont thin out the oil not really thinking of dirt but I see how it works and keep it posted. wouldnt the dirty/hairy grease somehow eventually get inside the bearing with the oil, since the bearing is constantly rolling

I oiled mine just like you did today but I added grease on both sides side of the bearings. It will seal them and not allow water or moister to enter the oil or bearings, Just thought Id share.

I thought of doing the same thing too, but I asked the mechanic, and he advised against any grease because it would catch dirt and sand, and can cause damage to the wheels. Perhaps it's the type of our gate and our surroundings. Do share your experience later.

If you dont lubricate the wheel, what will happen. Will the ball bearing damaged

Mr DIY has some. Any sewing machine mineral oil is OK. If you have to name a brand, Singer is good.

I use mineral oil - the clear and odorless one. It has a light viscosity and doesn't really not collect a lot of dust/sand on the wheels, especially the bearings.
