It’s also kind of funny that panning is the inverse of those beauty influencer makeup collection videos, the drawers full of components lined up nice and neatly but looking quite lightly used, while panning shows us products and their packaging looking progressively more worn out…

You’re so right! It’s funny to have the goal be so counterintuitive - the messier, and grubbier, the better 😅 makes me wonder where else I might benefit from applying this logic (clothing, home etc.)? Perhaps simply allowing the “lived-in” nature of things to add to the charm of existence, instead of diminishing it.

Hey Rachel! Have you tried holding your phone torch right up against the bottle of your opaque packaging (the Artist Couture)? Visual progress is nice but even weights could be good just to keep you motivated. I got a scale on Amazon super cheap. I'm documenting my products for the first time this year and I have to keep reminding myself when I get disheartened by my small amounts of progress of how early in the year it still is. Finishing products is definitely a marathon and not a sprint 😁

Ohh those are good ideas! I haven’t tried the light trick yet, but I’m definitely going to give it a try. I have a scale that I use for baking, as well. I’m not sure how sensitive it is, but even just a general sense of the weight going down could be encouraging 😅

@@tinyblackbird you probably won't see much progress on a baking scale, unless it's digital? Of course liquid and cream products are much denser than powder so it's worth a try 🙂

I think the Lumi bronzer will go a lot quicker than you think! 🤞🏻 also, no one in my life understands panning either haha my mom doesn’t understand why you would actively try to finish a product when you have to go out a buy another one when it’s done 😅 congrats on your empties!! I am working on finishing a bullet lipstick this year and it will be my first too! I was literally singing *now we know each other better* in my head the whole second half of your video.

When I hit pan on an eyeshadow in my pan that palette, I run out to tell my bf. And nothing makes me chuckle like him awkwardly saying "congradulations?" But I know when I post people will be excited about it will me.
