Fantastic idea. I already grow wild privet in my garden and this year I am experimenting with growing thornless blackberries!

Love this idea, phasmids are some of my favourite (and most annoying haha) inverts to keep and breed. They are also what got me into invert keeping when I was a kid, and have stuck with me throughout. Hopefully with the introduction of the first world stick insect day last year this will help things too.

This is a great idea, can't wait to see the progress. I hugely agree with the points raised about the problems with the phasmid hobby here in Britain, too many people only breed the common species, when there is such an amazing variety out there, but people don't know it exists, so don't go looking for it. I kept Carausius morosus when I was much younger, and I restarted keeping phasmids in the past few years, but when I see all of the species they have over in Europe, it makes me feel disappointed that breeders over here very rarely offer these species, and even more rarely give much information on them. I wish you the best of luck with project paradise!

I keep 9 different species and I'm in the UK. I have kept a species of stick Insect that isn't actually a classified species as well. I believe there is a lot to choose from in the UK. But I agree with you, more people should breed then :(

I know this isn't a big deal as such but I posted a very short clip of my new achrioptera fallax nymphs a couple of days ago and the views have done surprisingly well so I think the interest is there. As for helping with anything, I'm always around if you need anything bud.

You have pronounced Euonymus correctly. Incidentally, the yellow spotted plant in your front yard is Aucuba japonica, which the PSG reckon some stick insects will eat.
@OldChannelBugRealms3 жыл бұрын
Thankyou! Yeah I was stoked to see that plant already established when I moved here. I'll certainly experiment with it further too! Perhaps some that aren't known to thrive on it might end up doing well with it 😊

Where can I get a live stick insect in Scotland? even eggs of I had to.. I'm guessing it's all legal? I had them as a child and I'm sure my boy would love some

Extremely excited for Project Paradise! It would be awful to lose the hobbys more rarer species, especially those that have only just been introduced. Can't wait for the preservation to start and definitely loving the merch design with Autolyca herculeana, perfect choice.

I'll aid you. If you need a team member I'll be happy to help. I'm keeping 9 different species, and have kept others in the past. Don't worry about getting back to me now. But whenever your ready, I'm here to help bring the Phasmids back 😃

I love the aspect of food plant cultivation! That should provide a solid basis for the whole thing. Better not tell the "enforcers" of the rules for that plot about roaches getting their share of the veggies grown for "human consumption". In Germany at least, "Kleingartenvereine" (which would be the equivalent of what you have there) are known to be especially pedantic...
@OldChannelBugRealms3 жыл бұрын
Yeah they can get strange. Although they did allow someone to run a beehive l plot there once. So I might get lucky
