Project Pat is a living legend to me. Pat and the Three 6 Mafia was what me and the bois in Baltimore was bumping from highschool all the way to the early 2000s. Project Pat isn’t bitter or salty like some of the older rappers who came up in during his era, and that’s mainly because the newer generation embraces him! Cardi B sampled him on “Bickenhead”, 21 Savage put him on “Good Day” & most recently Drake threw him on “Knife Talk” so he’s good cause the heavy hitters of today pay homage and show love

Lol it's not "mainly because" the new generation accepts him. Who gives a fuck about that. It's because they made good music, have a huge following and are successful. Don't get it twisted
@closinginonclosure2 жыл бұрын
Project Pat is a Memphis rap legend. Been listening to his stuff since his very first solo tape. He's a good man too. But you gotta realize that some of the people you're calling "bitter or salty" are just passionate artists. You also gotta realize that Pat is really just rapping as a hustle. Juicy got him into it and he was down because he could make money. Hewouldn't do it otherwise. Obviously all rappers are trying to make some money but Pat has never really attached himself to the music like that. If people sample him he's just happy to get paid. So there's no real artistic passion there that he's getting upset over if someone bites his style. He even talks about just rapping to make money in this interview. That's a huge difference between him and some rappers who are more invested in the lifestyle.
@guts-72102 жыл бұрын
I think dude had good intention with this comment, but Drake is a straight culture vulture. Several times already he's straight up ripped old school verses, slightly tweaking them, makes it come off as his own cuz he don't say shit about it being a homage or anything. This is fucking known. Comments like OP's paint the wrong picture. Drake do not give a fuck about the culture or the OGs, he just wants to take what they did and make himself pop off it. It's embarrassing and hollow. He's got some talent, but this ain't where it's at.

I've been bumping Project Pat since that day and I don't think I've gone longer than a week w/o putting on one of his (older) tracks. It’s a great thing to see an artist you grew up listening and looking up to do really well for themselves after the years. For pat to keep respect and a legendary status is good to see

The unadulterated King of Rap in Memphis. No question. He raised us to be better. He really had us ready to lead better lives telling is how that street shit go wrong. We used his music as a weapon to dance with. Salute.

Pat got that old-school O.G. feel to him type dude that can tell you stories and you just gotta listen . I still bump Mista Don't don't play , Ghetty Green , and Def Laying the Smack Down ( just bumped that whole album the other day love the production on that shit ). Pat is a legend and to this day I can't think of nobody else that had/has a flow and cadence like him that made him stand out from everyone for real. Dope interview Pat is such a humble type dude .
