Project Powerlander #1 - Ram 2500 Tradesman Power Wagon Walkaround, Initial Review

Welcome back to Tradesman Outdoor Adventures! In this first video of the "Project Powerlander" series, I introduce my 2021 Ram 2500 Tradesman, do a (somewhat awkward) rig walkaround, and talk briefly about next steps for the truck.
I owe all of you watchers an apology: I'm definitely a noob at video production and have definitely NOT gotten a handle on the selfie-stick/gimbal contraption. Mea culpa for the extreme closeup of this ugly mug, frequent swaying, and background noise.

For years I wanted a tradesman power wagon. When the time finally came to start looking for a truck they announced the 75th anniversary power wagon took one look at a molten orange one and bought it 10,000 km latter still love this truck. You will be very happy with this rig 👍🏻

@@BibleSamurai I am in Canada so trucks are a lot more here it was sticker price of 80,500 I got a factory Re-bait of 3,200. But after the tax man and a few things I added to the truck total was 93,427.85 with the extras I have added I am over a 100,000 in it

Not sure about back in 2021 but building a 2024 Tradesman with the Power Wagon package and adding aux switches is a no go. When you try and add them, it needs to delete the power wagon package

I walked from a 2020 orange tradesman power wagon that had the snow chief and the upfitter thing (literally those were it other than the 8.4" screen which I don't care about) for $50k brand new from Indiana (not far from me in Illinois)..... yeahhhhhh. I regret not buying that truck.... will stick with my 2012 ram 1500 for a while longer as my overland rig (I have it totally done up, roof top tent, hot water, bash bar, fridge. You name it I have it). Anyways. A 2500 power wagon would be nice to have.... congrats!!

Yeah, it’s a setup that flies below the radar. I hope they keep the option around for a long time…Ram is one of the few manufacturers that makes a “budget” full-size/HD dedicated off-road rig, IMO.

They can. If it’s a tradesman, you can spec it out however you’d like. LEDs, 360 camera, etc

I think you can for ‘22 model years, but not in earlier ones (at least that’s what the website said). Is that what you ended up doing?

Nice! I have a less optioned one! 😁 same blue, same radio, same PW package but no carpet. You can’t get the up fitter switches because the “wiring harness” that controls some of the PW features is the same as the up fitter switch’s…or so my research has concluded…

Hey, good to know! I’m a bit jealous of the rubber flooring…I haven’t been able to find any with that option that didn’t come on a base Tradesman. Did you custom-order yours?

Ha, I think I know the dealership! They had a TON of base Tradesman’s a year or so ago, but most were red.

@@TradesmanOutdoorAdventures I watched videos on the flooring. I was tossed on whether to order carpet or vinyl. I was leaning towards vinyl. A video pointed out the down side. When water does find it's way between the ses of the vinyl it will never have a way to breathe and escape. The carpet will eventually dry. I went ahead and ordered with carpet after that.

Good job on one of your early videos. Just found your channel. Watching a lot of videos about 2500 trucks from all manufacturers. I want gas power, and it must fit in my garage. Which means extended cab, not crew cab in Ford or GM, or Ram crew due to its shorter overall length. Standard 4x4 2500 height fits my garage but if the vehicle is lifted, I would have to carefully measure. I like the chrome bumpers. It makes it look less like a company work/service truck. Classic good look. Does yours have power folding mirrors? I’ll look for your other videos. Thanks for posting.

No power folding mirrors on mine (I don’t think they were available on any Tradesman trims that year). I get to do the old-school manual fold. 😉 Thanks for commenting!

I wanted the tradesman power wagon, but I could not seem to get some of the options I wanted so I went with the powerwagon. I have the outfitter package and dual alternators. If you are on a budget the tradesman powerwagon is a awesome deal. It’s not really my dream truck but I have always wanted one.

I bought my 2022 Power Wagon level 2, Bed Utility Group, 12” Touch Screen Infotainment package, Dual Alternators, Black Wheels, in Olive Green.. and I Love it!!!👍

@@TradesmanOutdoorAdventures I didn’t even know till after I got My PW that U could get a Tradesman with the PW package..🤷🏻‍♂️ My buddy has a 2021 Tradesman with a 8 foot bed and He’s added Fox Shocks, Thuren Springs, and AEV wheels, He should’ve just got the PW package..👍

Is the payload or towing better as a tradesman PW option?

Hey there…not much of a difference between Tradesman and PW variants. The payload is likely to be higher on the former because they tend to be more lightly optioned (no leather, sunroof, etc.)
