As someone who almost exclusively makes traditional art because I'm too scared to try digital, this was really insightful! I adore the painting as well, Miku looks so pretty!
@nomoretwitterhandles Жыл бұрын
I went from mostly* traditional to digital a few years ago (*I actually used to draw digitally when I was younger but I was limited to ONLY my 3DS lol..). Anyway, one thing I learned about digital art is that you can keep it simple! It's easier to learn when you stick to what you know. You don't have to try fancy fill or lasso tools if you don't want to; for the longest time, I filled in line art as though it were a coloring book lol. Point is, if it's something you can't do on paper, don't do it! Get used to your digital pens and pencils first. Sketch and fill in colors as you please. Over time, these things will come to you easier. Just remember, when it comes to art, practice doesn't make perfect--it makes *progress!!!*

My Rendering process is: 1 Create layer above my artwork. 2. Draw over everything colorpicking closest local colors and start blending them in manually, I struggle a lot with lineart so I just dont do it. Yeah I like to test out the effects of the blending modes because they confuse me and unless its not multiply/ Overlay or soft and Hard Light mode I dont know what the rest is suppose to do. :D So yeah :D Great Process Video. Really inspiring! Especially seeing also the "not so pretty" phase in Detail and talk about the sketch and the idea is nice.

Ngl that helped a lot,cause i am a traditional artist and i didnt knew how to transition in digital art because of the rendering so this is refreshing cause i can just experiment to see what suits the best...over all,yes i still do traditional sketches xD
@nomoretwitterhandles Жыл бұрын
I'm a traditional-to-digital (but still sometimes traditional 😂) artist as well, and even though it's been many years, I sometimes still struggle with rendering digitally. I like the infinite access to colors on digital programs, but the blending is something I *feel* when I'm making traditional art. I can't really feel blending in digital art... but the great thing about art is that we are always improving. There is never perfection.

Rendering is nice, but I rarely manage to get there. I struggle to get the construction and gesture in and my lines are horrible. By the time I've managed that, I'm usually too demoralized to finish. xD I know as a beginner I shouldn't worry too much about the end results, but after learning so much about the fundamentals, it's hard not to see "areas of improvement" everywhere.
@tkjk0481 Жыл бұрын
I’m assuming by “my lines are horrible” you mean that they look shaky or jagged when you don’t want them to be? If you haven’t tried already, I’d suggest going into the stabilization settings on the brush you’re using (or if you use something like IbisPaint, the stabilization is in the menu/settings think) and try increasing the streamline and stabilization bars for less shaky lines. Usually I like to have the brush that I’m using have a streamline of around 40-50% and have a stabilization of about 20-25%.

i love how instead of putting steps you show the speed paint explaining what you did, rendering doesn’t limit to exact steps you should follow and the only reason i can’t learn how to render is bc of that, steps, Why? adhd :P so finally seeing someone break that pattern finally gives me some hope for my hella neurodivergent brain to actually learn how to learn how to color with style it is 2:01 am help

Saturation is never the goal unless you want it to be. Plenty of amazing artists only use greyscale, and some use dull or pastel colors. As long as it makes you happy, it can look however you want. :)
