the notch on the plastic recoil is a magic rope winder if your short circles you can lift the rope through that notch as long as you are lined up with th entrance you have enough room to get the kink out of the cord and winder up, ( the @5:44 small notch on white plastic recoil right side center it allows the cord to fit between the housing and edge of circle, nice video.

Good video.If you put your wedge in the recoil before you remove the old rope you won't have to wind it.Just my 2¢

Good tip. I’ll try that on the next one.

I have a 2002 RMK 700, oil pump and rope housing exactly the same as yours, my bad that I started into the project and took the round white thing that holds the rope off and now I'm not sure if I put it together right 😞 Do you have a video or link that shows how that all goes back together? I wish I would have watched your video first!!!

I don’t have a video on my channel, but I’ve reset the spring on a couple of sleds. Patience is the key.

could you just lock the recoil fully out with say a screwdriver or clamp and just clip the recoil rope and attach the new one and then release the device holding it and let it spool itself back on? By the way great video very clear instructions and excellent camera positions etc.

The hole in the plastic recoil isn't wide enough to allow the old rope and new rope to pass it through. Thanks for watching and please subscribe

Does that belt run the oil injection as well?
@StreetersGarage10 ай бұрын
Indirectly. The oil pump is driven from an input shaft that’s in the center of the gear that’s attached to the water pump.

Can the oil pump be rebuilt?
@StreetersGarage5 жыл бұрын
Not that I’m aware of. I would just replace it if you need too.

Do you have video on changing the actual water pump on this engine?
@StreetersGarage6 жыл бұрын
Sorry I don't. However I do have a engine tear down video of an XC700 which is essentially the same engine. That video would give you some pointers on what you would be looking at. Not that had to do.

Hello, is water pump belt the same on the 2005 600 XC?
@StreetersGarage6 жыл бұрын
No belt on the motor. It’s mechanically driven by the crank. It sits between the carbs on the lower part of the engine behind the oil pump.
@stevepost88616 жыл бұрын
Good Morning, thank you for letting me know that our sled is a mechanically driven belt. Here is another question: what is the best way to get at the water pump, thinking the pin is gone off the propeller.
@StreetersGarage6 жыл бұрын
Easy thing to do is to pull the engine. I have a removal video for a 99 XC700. Essentially the same process

What issues are you having?
@stevepost88616 жыл бұрын
The issue that I am having is no coolant flow, overheats within a minute. Floored it one day and it has overheated ever since. Thank you so much for your valuable input. Looking forward to your reply.
