Project Stone Soup! Will A 63 A-Body Gas Tank Fit Into A 62 Valiant or Lancer? @FunctionalHistories

In this video we swap a 1963 A-Body gas tank into a 1962 Dodge Lancer! Nobody makes gas tanks for 1960-62 Plymouth Valiant's or Dodge Lancers so we tried one from a 1963 and it worked great, just a few small differences. This covers pretty much any gas tank swap in a Mopar. This was all a last minute thing because of a trip we had coming up and the car needed to be transported east from our place.
This car is from Project Stone Soup. Stone Soup is an idea from Vic ‪@FunctionalHistories‬ to have a car be built by many KZbinrs around the country. Vic plans to bring it to the No Name Nationals race in Missouri. Plan is for everybody to do a little bit and get a car ready to drag race. The car was donated by Scott at @heavensmopars who brought it to our place, then it went to Jamie, then back to us, then back to Scott and then it's going to Montana next. Ya I'm a little confused to.

I’ve always called the Valiants road toads, think the Lancer is a much better looking car. Working on getting an aluminum slant 6 Lancer.

On the two post lifts...we used to just ratchet strap the car in place when we had to "adjust" parts for placement.

It’s a ‘run what you brung’ kind of race. If it has wheels and drives, you can “race” it. Who said it had to be a high dollar build? The point is to enjoy each other’s company and just have fun… Jamie and Tom’s efforts are to 1- just enough to get it to run, and 2) get a tank in it so that it can run, and not off a gas can. All on a time crunch! As the car gets passed from one channel to the next, everything will get fine tuned and dialed in. According to each channels skills and abilities. Plus, we all have lives to live and our own projects to focus on. We are donating what time and money we are able to to make this dream happen for Vic. The car does have to pass an AHRA thorough inspection before it can go down the track for safety reasons. Stay tuned and follow the build… you might be surprised how it turns out. 🤔👍 Ps. Nice work Tom. I noticed the Forward Look logo is cast into the rear main seal retainer on my ‘65 slant. Are you familiar the Forward Look logo living on in any other places after the Forward Look era was long over?

They purged it pretty good around 63, you don’t see it much 64 and up. They probably cast a million of those things in 62 and kept on using them.

Hello, I have two wheels for Stone Soup. They are 5 on 4 1/2 bolt pattern. Is this the same as the Lancer. They look like the wheel on the left front.

No it’s small bolt pattern so needs to be 5x4 pattern.
