Brother Colin, you never disappoint with your knowledge or fabrication prowess, the funny thing is, after watching since day one, I am actually understanding the dialogue and nomenclature you present and as an Alfisty, I thought I had a good grasp, wrong... This will be a weapon when it’s done and kudos to you my man.... Great to see you and your Dad can share awesome moments of motorsport and walk away with a second place. As an Aviator, precision and attention to to detail is exactly what you produce every time. You are a lucky man, my better half would not be so understanding when it cones to hours spent... (the workshop tour rocked). Can’t wait for the next instalment. Keep rocking🤘

Col, love the vid and work top class as usual. The event where you ran the 105 looked like fun. Experimenting with a new mix of hops yeast and water too, radical. Who says men can't change......😉 It was good to see you spending time with your loved one on Valentines. Top bloke!

Epic as usual. I get so much from your videos. Im doing the same thing with a similar tool set but i really dont know what im doing so there is so much to learn. I know KZbin is full of them, but how about a few token 'how to's' like the DRO you did or whatever. You might get lucky and go viral with one and get some exposure to hit the subs you deserve. Soooo many shit how to's with so many views.
@105colin3 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much mate, yea sure I can try and fit some stuff like that in, agree there is some sub standard stuff out there, if you've got anything specific let me know, cheers

Hi Colin. I just love your videos and your approach to solving your engineering problems. I just watched an episode of Alan Millard building his 6 cylinder motorbike engine in his shed and your engineering talent is comparable. It’s insane that you don’t have a following of 100 times your current subscriber total. I wonder if you could try manipulating the KZbin algorithm with some sensation in the title of your videos. I think mentioning ‘lancia stratos’ more prominently and frequently might help or maybe a collaboration with a bigger KZbinr. Maybe you could make a part for Jeff. Cheers.
@105colin3 жыл бұрын
thanks Mate, Yea I got put onto Alan Millard a couple of weeks ago and have binged watched all of it, fantastic stuff. Good advice on the algorithm, I've tried to do a bit more in that area, and should do more, just trying to stay away from the click-bait titles, hate that stuff! Yea I've helped Jeff out a couple of times, and he's given me a couple of shout-outs, actually I'd probably still be at 200 subs if it wasn't for him! Cheers
@stephenbartlett82893 жыл бұрын
@@105colin no one would begrudge you a little bit of clickbaiting if it drove more subscribers to you. I appreciate you’re very modest but I have seen too many talented you tubers give up because the effort involved in shooting the videos feels pointless. Example.... I haven’t seen anything from trev’s blog or the fabrication series for months..... I just hope they haven’t given up.

Superb yet again, would you say it’s the engineering you enjoy more than the driving at the end? Knew someone that built a plane and in the end it turned out it was the building it that he enjoyed more than flying the plane in the end.
@105colin3 жыл бұрын
Good Question! It's definitely 50/50 but the sum is greater than the parts, Love absently thrashing something when I know I've built it all, when it breaks it's my fault, but when it all works, awesome

another Colin understatement. probably be over engineered?? don't they just look great though mate. Will the grub screws be strong enough though fella?
@105colin3 жыл бұрын
haha, have mill, must use! Yea the grub screws are doing almost nothing, in fact with the fit on the hex, you could run without them, just a secondary thing really and maybe stop some weird vibration shaking them off or something

Ok maybe a personal question , where did you learn all these machining skills?, self taught or an apprenticeship as a fitter and turner, toolmaker or such.Oh and another great video by the way.
@105colin3 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, Na no formal training in machining. just picked it up as I went, Learnt from a lot of proper fitters and turners I've worked with, trial and error, and of course the you tube university!
@mireillevanbever98493 жыл бұрын
i understand why you use cromolybdeen for the bar but why do you use it for the arms? why not use steel?
@105colin3 жыл бұрын
So I wanted to use a socket to attach the arms, that way i could machine the hex on ARB myself, as apposed to a more conventional spline arrangement, which i would probably have to get sent out. Normal Sockets would probably be too brittle, impact socket seemed perfect for the job, and they are made of cromoly, so since i was already getting some bar stock i grabbed some square section and filler rod at the same time.
