Gotta love ITB's! Looking forward to hearing it start and run now. I guess Bluey is going to get some more love when the Stratos heads off to the paint shop? Next time I'm in Aus I'm going to have to try Furphy's, you've got me intrigued...

Yet more superb construction skills. Just one question - with the rear roof spoiler lying over the top of the two clam shell vents, are you going to get sufficient air flow into the two vents or are the aerodynamics going to limit airflow in the region at speed ?
@105colin3 жыл бұрын
Cheers mate, yea the side vents aren't ideal, looking at them I don't think they are in any danger of being in a low pressure area at speed, but any "ram" effect will be minimal. My main concern was getting the air intake away from what I expect to be a pretty warm engine bay
@Lou-f3 жыл бұрын
It’s a stratos so plenty of ram air as it’ll be sideways most of the time ;)
@regalheros3473 жыл бұрын
That rear roof spoiler might collect air and direct it to the side inlets rather than limit it; some discreet 'ears' on the rear edge of the inlet may encourage more air to enter? Analysis from my armchair wind-tunnel.
@105colin3 жыл бұрын
Yes a couple of covers to funnel the air in from under the spoiler are on the cards

Superb result. ITBs are a natural choice for this car; looks, sound and hopefully more power. Well thought out design as usual. Maybe later a periscope scoop a la some Fiat X1/9 racers; there is enough cross-over between the cars to make that valid. Just joking. Will the motor be rebuilt, or is it okay to run as is? Thanks for a great series.
@105colin3 жыл бұрын
Haha, yea might skip the periscope scope for now, Engine, well, it's probably absolutely fine and any normal person would just run it the way it is......

A picture of a Gp 4 Stratos in later life; shows similar ducting but appears it is without the deck beneath the louvres. d39a3h63xew422.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/18200516/Cristopher-Ghioldi-Marco-Magnani-Jolly-Club-Stratos-11.jpg A nice photo location too.

Great video and fabrication. Do you see any issues with airflow coming from each side like that, no need for a baffle of some sort to direct left side to one bank and right side to other bank? Both air streams hitting each other causing turbulent air....but then again it has to go through the filters before hitting the trumpets so thinking about it maybe not.
@105colin3 жыл бұрын
Don't think that'll be a problem, I don't think there will be a huge amount of "Ram effect" from those side vents anyway

@105colin3 жыл бұрын
Cheers mate I was thinking of going full DIY with a Speeduino, but now I'm planning a Haltech elite 2000, amongst other features it's got twin knock sensor input and some pretty impressive knock detection logic
@AdamDUrso3 жыл бұрын
@@105colin would be amazing to see a speeduino build on this thing! I think you'd need to wait for drop bear though as you're six cylinder? Haltech probably a more reliable option!
@105colin3 жыл бұрын
Yea, I've been waiting for the drop bear to come out,, and will definitely have a play around with it when it does, until then Haltech will make my life a bit easier
