Project Time | UV Resin Keycaps

I am finally diving into a medium that I have always wanted to try - UV Resin!
This video is less a tutorial and more of a first-time-use documentary. I wanted to capture my mistakes and how I troubleshot them when first diving into this. I learned a ton during the process and I think it is important to show our mistakes when learning something new, because we can learn so much from them and other's mistakes.
I am already thinking of ideas to merge all my hobbies into one EPIC project, so hopefully I can get started on that in the near future.

You probably know this by now, but Uv resin works better if you cure the layers separately. They do bond together. So clear plus seashell first and then the blue. Also a tip - use gel nail polish to color the Uv resin. And a mirror under the lamp will add to the light’s efficacy . Thanks for sharing your journey.

I haven't used Resin nor have I made any type of keycap all the info is what I picked up from watching other Keycap DIYers! The type of Keycap is also important there are multiple different styles of Caps not only interms of stem but also the form and height of the top part. [It's less important if you have a floating key keyboard and plan on doing all caps but if you have a frame keyboard or only want to do a few caps you should pay attention to get the right mold so it fits the rest of your caps] Other Cap DIYers put resin into the stem part of the mold and cure it then leave it there and put it in like you did and that way it cures togther into 1 piece and comes out perfect. Another tip too much is better then too little it sqeezing out the top isnt a problem but if you have to little you end up with bubbles and incomplet caps which is really hard to fix.

We came to this in opposite ways! I am a custom keyboard enthusiast who saw that there were not many artisan keycaps out there that I really enjoyed so I decided to make my own. Thanks for trying it out and posting this! I hope you get to build your first custom keyboard soon! Holler if you want any tips or tricks, it's a very expansive rabbit hole to go down.
