In this episode we look at, and take apart a Ferrari/Maserati F1 Actuator. In laymans terms, how the Ferrari "Flappy Paddle" system works, and how it is assembled. I will be posting a longer video on how to dissasemble from start to finish, this one is more of a "how it works" and less of a "how-to".

Ive been biewing your process and find your project quite interesting. What i don't understand is why you put so much time learning about how the actuater works rather than focus on fabracting a manual shifter? Still, it was interesting. I'm zipping through the rest of the videos.

Really good question. The main purpose is to understand the engineering behind it, so I can add to my bank of knowledge. You never know when you might need that process theory or the mechanical idea. It could create another idea you wouldn't have otherwise had to problem solve a current issue!

Is the plan to make a manual shifter yourself or use an existing shifter that works with the M139 transmission?

Honestly, it is going to be a bit of a combination of it all. I have a friend who has been designing and developing a shifter that we are going to try. I will still need to modify it a fair amount, but it *should* work.
