You guys nailed it with this video! I live in the Mt. Washington Valley and beat the bushes without a dog. Most people think I'm nuts but I find the birds and walk God's country.

I don't think anyone thinks you're nuts. We just feel sorry for you that you don't enjoy using a dog.

a grouse is a noble and iconic bird of american landscape. It deserves a decent hunt. I have travelled to USA with my dogs and gun, to hunt them. A dead grouse , that flushed under your feet is not a sporting and decent situation. It is not a ''fair chasse'' . You have the right according the law. But it is not fair. You better try to train these guys to take a dog. You can eat a meal with your hands . You can eat it with fork and knife. Thats the difference!!

I see what you're saying, but killing a grouse without a dog is far more difficult than killing one with a dog. I love hunting with a dog, but to each their own. Grouse hunting should bring us together for a common cause, not polarize us by personal preference of how to do it.

i would have to say that you are completely wrong...i hunt without a dog(Because i dont have 1) and the grouse is a rare site around here and just getting 1 to flush makes the hunt but actually getting a shot is a whole different story. Watching a dog run around and point then walking over to it and shooting it is not sporting

What ever happened to just walking an old logging road and keeping your eyes and ears out? Too fancy there guys are. Flat brim hat in the grouse bush? I don't think so!!
