In my last video I was only planning on cleaning the seats............ but it was so so wet.
In this one I fix the lean and set to cleaning.
The results are amazing.

The headrests on my late F/early TF seats come out by rotating the plastic collars surrounding each post and pulling the headrest up (with your third hand 🙄) The seats are obviously different though, as mine don’t have pretensioners

Great video, very enjoyable. Regarding the roll hoops, get rid of them, they are likely to injure you in an accident.

Hi Craig, getting rid of it is a good idea. My wife's F came with a 'roll hoop' that wasn't anywhere near as sturdy as the one you have, it truly was a death trap. It went into the tip a few days after she purchased the car. Another friend has a flimsy roll hoop in his F and I can't convince him of the hazard it posses, I hope he's well insured. Keep the videos coming!

@@Exhausted-autos any tips for a puddle under the driver's seat ?
@PrincipalAudio

My advice on the speakers. If you install speakers in open air, you won't have much sound as the pressure from the front of the cone instantly transfers around to the rear of the speaker cone, massively reducing efficiency. It's why speakers are usually inside a box or have a large flat interface in the form of "open baffle". The box/baffle essentially separates the front of the speaker cone from the rear, improving efficiency, making them louder and deeper in bass. So if you want speakers, you'll likely have to remove the roll bar hoops. Either that, or you may be able to figure out a solution to keep the hoops with a bodge. I mean, they are more cosmetic than for actual rolls.

Thanks for the advice... I've already decided to go with the stock sound bar and change out the old speakers. That should give me what I need.

@@Exhausted-autos Awesome. Hope it sounds good! Might swap out the speakers on my bar as the standard ones are a bit rubbish. Really muffly sounding just like the original front ones.

Hi I’ve just fitted the same roll hoops to mine and carried out exactly the water proofing that you are doing. I fitted the original speakers to some speaker brackets that came with the hoops. It took over a week to dry out my carpet. I also replaced the front and back door seals I got off eBay.

Hi Craig, well done mate. So those holes that were rusty that you smashed out in the last video. What is directly underneath them? I I would have thought they would require something welded in to keep out the wet. Do they not go straight to the road? I'm the guy on Facebook, doing the same job to the blue TF. Fortunately mine are not as bad as that so I didn't end up with huge holes in the floor. I do however have an enormous carpet in my bath that I have no prospect of drying out any time soon given the weather forecast for the next 4 days! It was every bit as wet as yours if not worse. Is there a particular brand/grade of silicone I should use on my snorkel? I don't do this kind of thing very often.
@Exhausted-autos
@Exhausted-autos 6 ай бұрын
It's just the road underneath.... I hope the plastic plugs will work. The silicon is simple bathroom stuff from toolstation.
@stevemiller-hp4vt

Ah ok, I’m planning on getting under the car and finding all those plugs. I’ll give them the once over with the wire brush. Some rust converter and then Hammerite them. Seems bonkers about the way they galvanise the body and then chuck half a dozen unprotected bits of metal in which will inevitably rust!!

Craig what a great video, I love working on the car myself, how satisfying to get that cleaning job done. All looks really good, it makes a big difference when it's done., after doing my own I just kept taking pics and looking at it lol. Good decision on the hoops ... I like them but I like my speakers more tbh. Not sure on the grate under the seat as any water will have travelled down on the carpet I guess but worth a try. Stroke of luck with the gearstick gator saved a couple of quid there . Good luck with the MoT how all goes well there looking forward to seeing the next video ... Phil.

Personally I would get better front speakers (the old ones are still OEM) and forget the rear speakers, the rear speakers are too close to your head I have mine practically turned off.

Really enjoying your restoration videos and your 'can-do' attitude. I have a 2004 TF160 which I've owned for 15 years but have had garaged for the past 7 years and am about to recommission this summer (can't wait). You've inspired me to do a deep clean on the carpets and to check for floorpan rust (when it gets a bit warmer). Even though it's garaged, I'm sure there'll be plenty of surface rust (hopefully not more advanced) like you had. I think you're right to get rid of the hoops and keep it as original as possible. Good job on the alcantara seats. Mine are the grenadine (red) alcantara which require regular debobbling too. I have the glass windstop which I'd recommend as it's effective, neat and easy to install.
