What a trip. I loved this game so much. I highly recommend it. It is a LOT of fun. The emotional impact of the things that happen is very strong as well.

I love the end of this game, both the fact that in the final fight they show your health as the one of a Bossfight and the fact that it just ends with \\FUNDS DISTRIBUTED\\

It doesn't just give your healthbar like one of a bossfight, on the boss introduction watermark they do the name is "..." and the watermark is Monarch's logo, the one that's on his aircraft. Monarch, the player, is literally the final boss, and Crimson lost

Crimson's final lines are more symbolic than they are literal. He knows he will be forgotten, but what he says serves as a warning. "When the storm comes for you" is in reference to when what has just happened to him happens to you eventually. "Remember me" is simply saying that you should remember that the position you're in right now, is not the position you'll have in the future, and should remember that feeling. It's really cool how much depth Crimson 1 has while seemingly simple on the surface.

Here's something to think about: Monarch doesn't have a crown on his plane. It's a butterfly. A monarch butterfly. So everyone is expecting him to be a bloodthirsty mercenary out for his own kingdom, but in reality he just enjoys butterflies. All the stuff with Crimson 1 is just him projecting his own issues unto Monarch. You take down Crimson 1 because he's an imsane mass murderer, but he has no ambition to be king. He's just the best pilot on the planet who loves butterflies.

now, technically, these are spoilers if you decide to do play it again on mercenary difficulty, but: Everyone got shot down, or sunk when Crimson 1 attacked, right? Well, yeah, but not all died. If you play on Mercenary difficulty and fight Crimson, you can hear in the credits scene of multiple characters (named and unnamed) talk, walking about the rubble of Presidia. Galaxy is alive. His AWACS plane crash-landed somewhere either outside Presidia, or in the city itself. He and the crew of the AWACS plane is scrambling to get a radio working. The surviving Federation troops are talking about how they have to convince the Cascadians that it wasn't them that nuked Presidia. Captain Woodward (probably floating in a lifeboat, as the Eminent Domain sunk) mutters to himself about the air-battle between Monarch and Crimson 1. Diplomat and Comic also survive. You can hear them finding each other in the rubble. Both having safely ejected. They also talk about Monarch. Specifically when Comic asks who will collect the funds from the contract, Diplomat simply states: "Monarch will collect." Cascadian forces are evacuating Presidia aswell. Kaiser survived aswell, but he is MAD and is shouting about wanting to burn the Federation to the ground. That's all. It is unknown if others are alive. Like the rest of Sicario and Stardust. Just felt like saying this lmao

Man. My first time ending, I knew it was gonna be cinematic. I kept following Crimson 1 as his plane kept exploding before it went supernova. Then I flew off into the sunset. Chills, man.

Honestly with no hyperbole Project Wingman is one of the most impactful games I have ever played. When I started it I did not expect the level of story telling I was about to get. The gameplay and music are absolutely on point and I really wish more people would pick it up and experience it.

Stumbled across this video while searching for musicians reacting to the "Presidia" OST. Just wanted to say that I love how engaged you are with the storyline - and clearing the end of Presidia with a single point of hull remaining was an absolute nailbiter. Also the OST Leitmotif kicking in right after 14:25 while you start a run on the Federation airship is just -chef's kiss-

Thanks! I absolutely adore this game and it's soundtrack and I am so happy to see so many other people really enjoying it as well. I got really immersed in this conflict, maybe too immersed, but it was a lot of fun to make it through.

There was a cut mission between Presidia and Kings named 'Pride of a Nation'. Basically, Crimson 1 had gathered as many Peacekeepers as possible, and over the course of the battle all of your friends would be shot down. Prez would pass out near the end of the fight, and you'd get the only subtitles for Monarch in the game, indicating him switching weapon control over to himself. Eventually it'd just be Crimson One and Monarch for Kings. And something that makes this fight even better: Monarch is Cascadian too We are the final boss of Crimson One's story. One he will never beat

Oh wow that cut mission would have been awful! There is dialogue for Prez blacking out when you start to engage C1 but obviously no subtitles for Monarch taking over WSO. I have to say this mission is even more epic in the updated version of the game, which I played through on Merc Difficulty on Stream before Christmas.

I have never considered an ACE Combat game before. I think I need to get a bit of a PC upgrade in place before I can look at them. My GT 970 is really struggling these days.

@@Phrosphor only 7 us on PC as far as I remember. Rest are on consoles, so emulation is a must if you don't own a console.

funny thing is that crimson one was so obsessed with the idea of monarch being a king the guy never considered that perhaps monarch only wanted to fly like a butterfly hence the name monarch.

There are 2 new planes for finishing the game The SP-34R and the PW-MK1 The pw is a very funny plane, you should try it. The sp-34r is a boss rusher not as fun as the pw but its a challenge playing with it. Bad thing is that they cost a lot so if you want to get them without mods its a bit of a grinding.

Strong theory on what 'the Deal' was: . . . . . AC exists as a 'post-apoc' world, they have started calculating AC at a similar technological level when Calamity happened, so what was there then? What was available, both as an energy and a weapon, that was replaced by Cordium due to availability and ease of application? _What would be so powerful that it would make a group of mercenaries impossible to retaliate against without risking losing your own capital?_

Frontline 59 expands on this. Faust claims that the Federation and Cascadia found 'something' in Oceania that is so terrifying she goes rogue to try and destroy the Federation before Consequence of Power happens in the main campaign.

I loved watching this series, definitely earned a new viewer. Commentary is really nice loved watching let's plays, it's a genre that's been abandoned for a while, even though I really love listening to them while doing other things. Well I may be late but, still wanted to say it. If you finish the game on mercenary difficulty you'll get secret ending dialogues with the credits. I highly recommend you seeing them because, it clarifies a lot.

Given you enjoyed this game, I highly recommend you try Ace Combat 7 - Project Wingman has a lot of Ace Combat DNA in it. I don't think it would be much more difficult to run than Project Wingman as well. You could also emulate what's known as the holy trinity of Ace Combat games, being AC 4, 5, and Zero if you like it and want some more historical backstory on the events that lead up to 7.
