It honestly feels like a tribute of what it looks like to fight against a fill-in Walker from Spec Ops only with a bullet hell plane instead of some guns. Crimson 1 descends further into madness the more he tried to be a "hero" and then blames it on some guy who's just really good at dogfighting. Blaming these tragedies on Monarch is incredible amounts of projection. He just can't handle some merc did more for his homeland than he ever did.

Crimson 1 is projecting *HARD* here. Stress from the war and the cognitive dissonance of associating himself as Cascadian while Cascadia looks to break away, not being really well equipped to cope losing to 'lowly mercs' in the biggest furball in history despite said furball having already softened Monarch up, then Prospero probably pushed him over the edge as it completely backfired on the Federation to the point where all he has left, all he has to justify what he's done is a Federation victory in Cascadia no matter the cost... only for the Federation to pull the plug and surrendered. He dedicated all he had to the Federation, excessive nationalism to the Federation rather than his home state even as he felt he was strengthening Cascadia as part of it, and that left him with little else as a coping measure for when things went horribly wrong. He couldn't handle the cognitive dissonance, so he blamed it on the most visible alternative: Monarch. It was Monarch's fault for pushing them this far, if only Monarch hadn't been a money-grubbing mercenary happy to leave nations in ruin for a paycheck. Monarch's motives are of course left up to the player, but Crimson 1 is blaming everything on Monarch as a scapegoat so he doesn't have to stare in the mirror and ask if the Federation is really worth starting a second Calamity for. It wasn't his fault, it was that damn mercenary killing so many just to pad his paycheck. Crimson 1 was completely wrong, but most edgelords like him feel that they are right even if they revel in being 'dark' - Crimson 1 did not, which meant he had to buy into this lie he told himself all the more to justify himself... and someone in such a corner is extremely dangerous because you cannot predict them. Not too different from Victoria Espinosa from BattleTech - she committed horrible atrocities in the name of strengthening the Aurigan Reach, going all in, and couldn't handle it as even that wasn't enough and finally snapped when her father decided to surrender and make all those horrible choices not only moot but a backfire. Funnily enough, this was also a result of some particularly capable mercenaries whose motives are player defined...

It's basically the same when you get it: you get thirty shots with each weapon (a crazy missile swarm that basically obliterates everything, and a railgun that one-shots airships,) and while the reload is much longer, it's almost impossible to shoot all of your ammo before everything dies.

"Zero" romanticizes the struggle between Cipher and Pixy, a wistful tune emphasizing the old comradeship and camaraderie between them, while serving as a somber and mournful reminder of how one must kill the other to see the world the way they want to. In many ways it's almost an upbeat tune if it wasn't accompanied by the threat of nuclear horror and two mercs knife-fighting with their planes in the mountains for the fate of the world. "Kings", on the other hand, is intense and blunt from the start, and extremely dramatic and dark. I've heard it be called the anti-Zero and the anti-Daredevil (ironic because I actually found subtle similarities in its melody to Daredevil). It accentuates the visuals of an apocalyptic wasteland down below that's freshly burning- highlighting the frightening prospect that there's nothing and no one left for you to save out there. If Zero is Snake Eater, Kings has to be the The Only Thing I Know For Real. It's harsh, hardcore, yet still cries for Monarch and Crimson's fates. The main difference, I feel, besides the whole narrative of Zero's "you have to save the world!" as opposed to Kings' "what is left for me to save?" is how you're supposed to _hate_ Crimson. You never felt that connection with him as you did Pixy, and while you viewed him as a deluded asshole in previous missions the absolute terror and evil of what he just did in front of you propels him to being an irredeemable monster. In this, *Crimson 1 is the only enemy the game truly encourages you to kill,* and it hammers that point home that he more than deserves to die. There's still that notion that one must kill the other to shift the balance of the world, but it's not so much a sorrowful reminder as it is a battle cry. As opposed to Cipher and Pixy, or perhaps Naked Snake and The Boss, there has never been love or trust between Monarch and Crimson; only respect for one another's skills as a pilot. All that is left for them is their rage and hatred laid bare for them to unleash upon each other- as they cannot do anything else as Presidia, and what is assumed Cascadia itself, crumbles and melts around them. NOTE: Funny, I've never actually played any of the games I've mentioned (AC7, AC0, PW, MGS3, MGR) here.

I also love how it shifts from Kings to "Coronation." You won, but the tune isn't cheery, it isn't triumphant. It's sad. This haunting tone that just says "You did it. You won. And it cost you everything." But it also changes my perspective on crimson, i shifted from hate to pity, he was driven completely mad by the war and he's flailing like a snake in it's death throes, he's dead but he's determined to take you with him and it's a sad sight. It gives the feeling that the fight is taken out of monarch, and he just wants to be done, he just wants to go home

Sorry I'm late to comment but you are right, it's the first time I actually hated any in-game enemy. After Prospera the Federation in general and Crimson at the end. I can't tell you how satisfied I was for the first few seconds after I clapped him with the HMGP + Gun (MiG-25), before realising there was nothing to be happy about.

I'm late as hell, but while Crimson 1 is very comparable to Pixy, at least Pixy had an end goal. I compare Crimson 1 to Yellow 13 a lot. One doesn't have even close to a sense of honor at all while the other is a knight in the sky that fights for Erusia. I didn't feel sad when Crimson 1 got killed by the protagonist because I felt empty, but when Mobius 1 takes Yellow 13's life, I felt heartbroken as if a part of me and Mobius 1 was ripped away. As the player, as Mobius 1, we want to be friends with Yellow 13 but are both on the opposing sides of a war, and that's the biggest tragedy of it all.

As beautiful and meme-able as this game is, shoutout to the writers, and Crimson 1’s voice actor Wayan Vassilopoulos. Crimson 1 has clearly lost his mind by this point. The absolute destruction Monarch has brought upon him is irreversible. We are told he’s the poster boy for the Federation’s Cascadia Peackeepers, and the top Ace in the world ... and we have taken that from him. His sole purpose, his sole reason to be a pilot is something we have stripped him of. The Federation is ruined (at least reputation wise), we have shot down all of Crimson squadron, and in his eyes we have ruined his home by separating it from the glory of the Federation. We are an anomaly to him, as the player always is. In his eyes there is no redemption for his home and it’s capital. The only road to redemption , the only thing left for Crimson 1 to do, is kill us. Despite his insanity, his emotions still shine through. In his death throws we are shown the depth of Crimson 1’s character. his determination-15:33 his frustration-15:40 his desperation-15:52 his rage-16:08 and in his last moments, his pride-21:04 I will remember you Crimson 1 Farewell

Federation was ruined even further by Crimson 1's actions. Breaking a cease fire, detonating WMD's into a capital city where a cease fire was announced. His insanity gives ground that everything he's done has always been wrong. Rarely is there an antagonist that drives players harder to _want_ to kill a character than C1. Its honestly the reason why he's such a great villain, not simply because he is responsible for countless deaths, but to his end he is convinced that YOU made HIM use cordium WMDs on his country, all the while claiming to be a loyal Cascadian while pretending not to be wholly loyal to the Federation, unable to see HIS country in any condition except for under Federation slavery. An example of pure evil in a manner of how villains are made.

It's been an honor. I was genuinely surprised by how many people backed the game. I saw Xite747 and Sly, to list a few familiar names. What feels like thousands of people helped to see this game to fruition, and that should make us very proud. Aces from all throughout the world came together, even crossing dimensions (Mobius 1, Trigger, and Phoenix, to name a few) to support the game, a good testimony to how even the Aces of Aces wanted new challenges and new challengers. Now, the KIng of the Crimson Skies joins them. The game itself took on a much more serious tone than any Ace Combat game to date, as far as I know. We saw in the very first mission the destructive power that cordium contained, though we didn't know how bad it could get. Sure, we "won," but what did we win for? A country of ashes? (Also RIP Crimson 1, his redemption and mini poem nearly drove me to tears) I sincerely hope that the team behind P:W will come back to make a sequel; the Calamity world has so much more to be explored. A "thank you" to the developers is in order, so: Thank you. Thanks for finishing this amazing project and letting us play it. Thanks for making an incredible soundtrack that I think is on par with the work of Keiki Kobayashi himself. Thanks for creating something that has grabbed my attention far better than just about any other game in recent memory. And finally, thanks for the memories. An unforgettable game was released on December 1st, 2020. It really sells, "war is hell": everybody ends up worse off, an even worse world war is probably about to start, and the world has gone from one where soldiers made an effort to follow rules of war, to one of total and indiscriminate violence. The Federation made this unavoidable, but it still tastes bitter to be a part of it.

Diplomat, Kaiser, Galaxy, Comic and Stardust all dead. Why did I not stop. Why didn’t I leave when I had the chance. Also there should’ve been a mini mission of you and Prez flying back to Caribbean. It is harder fight, but is it really made more difficult in the right way (gameplay-wise)? Crimson is a 4 stage bullet/missile sponge that PSMs to dodge a lot. Most of the time it felt like a endless turn fight. And because there's so much weapon spam, the damage you took from getting hit is just chip damage for balance reasons. If you die, it's because you got cut 1000 times faster than you could hit back, not because you did an obvious misplay or presented an opening for that to happen.

The final mission is basically the opposite of what Cipher and Pixy duel. To describe it is like comparing oil and water. Cipher fight pixy to save the world before the V2 launch. Pixy wants to destroy the border while Cipher the other way because they are different side of the same coin. Along with Zero bgm playing in the background it was a very beautiful dance in the snow. They are destined to fight each other, the brother in arms. And also ends beautifully with that final joust. On the other end, Monarch and Crimson 1 fight represent chaos. The final fight took place after Crimson 1 unleash the calamity on the city. Each time the phase cleared, Crimson 1 gets more difficult, quite the opposite of Pixy which Cipher strips away all Pixy's SP weapons each phases. Monarch and Crimson 1 fight in the ashes with all those Orange and Red calamity scattered on the scene just like hell hole, it was beautiful nonetheless but it was chaotic not like the calm and cool headed Cipher and Pixy in their fight that's just soothing to watch. The bgm Kings is also chaotic not like Zero which very upbeat and heroic. Like ACF said Pixy and Crimson 1 has the opposite ideals. Crimson 1 died in the explosion while Pixy not. And for the best, Pixy learn his lesson as all we know and love. Both dances are awesome in their own way. One represent heroic and the other chaotic. It would be interesting to see what would happen if Pixy in his adfx-2 fight Crimson 1 in the pw.mk 2

This shows that nobody can't survive in a war, only one that went through hell can tell the story. And Prez, she was just bracing her self, trying her best to stay conscious, until in the end she passes out. This game is a true master peace, even with out having to see the characters faces like in Ace Combat, the voices and the scenario can also hit hard. I've played the final mission on VR and that experience alone. Your palms sweeting on the joystick, your neck looking all the way at 180 even the heavy breathing. This mission was just truly amazing. The story it self was well written and I already can't wait to play PW2.

I got this game recently and played through the whole campaign in VR. Apart from some technical issues at the very start, this whole game was one hell of a god damn experience. This ending took me completely off guard, i rarely see games end with such a grim note like this. The fact that you dont know how many of your allies survived the last mission, if any did at all, made it just unsettling through the whole fight I feel like expriencing that in VR really sent that feeling into the stratosphere. After beating him, i just kinda sat there watching him go down, i guess shock is the right word for it, cause the way this scene was portrayed and the damn near apocalyptic setting it had just hits like a truck I guess its partyally because im generally a more emotional fella and im often very invested in storylines and the world around them. All im gonna say is, if you make a war-based game, and you finish it off making the player really see that war is quite literally hell with no true winner, then i think you've done a fantastic job And man, the soundtrack really helped send that feeling. And i of course made the genius choice of playing on hard mode durong my first playthrough. but after just barely beating him with less that 10hp left, i was already so overwhelmed by that shock feeling, i was barely able to react after beating such a difficult boss, i kinda just sat there, staring at the city afterwards, i was *completely* lost for words And that was just the storyline! I wonder if the devs are still working on PW stuff. I really hope so, partially cause i wanna know if any of our allies even survived. the radio silence gave me the impression none of them did, but at the same time, the calamity on mission 15 sacked all long range comms, but idk. I guess its just me being hopeful cause this game has a LOT of likeable characters and i feel weird for feeling so worried for fictional characters haha I dont know if anyone is even gonna read this, but since its friday and i have nothing to do, i might as well spew my brains out on a 2 year old video of a game that really hit a soft spot for me ^^

Yeah when I got the kill I coasted down alongside him. I was super low health because he had hit me with a full burst from the railgun earlier so it was way too close. Felt jut right to at least coast with him as a send off to a worthy rival. It was like the 1 bad thing about AC7, is that so many of the enemies were just super drones that you had no real reason to care about or consider true rivals. So Scream and Rage in the special missions were a really nice addition.

Honnestly the story of this game is far from complete, the destruction of presidia is probably (or absolutelly) will trigger a new conflict in the future also there are another country in this game that not exposse yet so yeah you are right But sadly i heard the rumours that sector D2 aka aby will not continue this game (probably because a budget or limited resource) also as you can see how sector d2 just focusing to fix the game (which is good in my prespective) rather then giving a new content like dlc or expansion, i hope sector D2 got more resource or budget or maybe there is another developer who wants to take over this franchise and continue it

He is *The Mad King* that conquer the World of The Ashes Crimson 1 is really resemblance a true knighthood Soldier, follow on his own principles to prevent more harm to the World a Hero that everyone's wants to Follow, but that believe itself turns a Man that addore by Everyone into a Bloodthirsty Soldier that swear a blood-oath of Revenge against the Demons himself Monarch, whom he himself destroy his own Home his Own Country and free all of his Countrymen from the Hands of the Mad Kings Its a Tales of Hero and The Demon itself but more Corrupts and Twisted. Monarch didn't really do anything wrong in the first place. I don't see how you can constrew it to that. Federation used civilian planes as air cover to cover their transports, federation started the wildfires in Cascadia to cover their retreat, federation nuked Prospero into the stone age just because they were loosing, and of course crimson straight up kills both surrendered federation troops, Cascadia troops and an entire fucking city just because he doesn't like monarch. In contrast, sicario actively avoids civilian casualties and war crimes and that includes monarch. Every single war crime and atrocity is done by the federation and the blind peacekeeper forces. To me this was a story about a mercenary group rising up to become the beacon for an entire nation in the face of a tyrant hell bent on control.

Or you can just slap Crimson down on mercenary difficulty using the SP-34R or Project Wingman, surprisingly easy to do so considering the only real change of note in difficulty is the addition of extra enemies. After all, once you get the idea of how to beat him, it becomes relatively simple.

TWO MIHALYS ASKFGAHSFGAHS" at least for me, what AC7 lacks its a bit of bravery, like, all missions become a breezy once you have teh hang of flyign and PSM (and if you are a veteran AC player, then you are there almost exclusivelly for the story) but project wingman feeds our old AC needs, those big boss fights, those "wtf how in the hell am i gonna do this" momnets, and AC7 lacks that in exange of a more friendly you-are-thebest approach instead of a try-to-get-out-of-this-one approach

It's 1 AM here and I just came off the back of 2 failed attempt absolute frustrated, my blood boiling with nothing but the utmost hatred for crimson 1 and the desire to bury him 6 feet underground. Rarely have I ever felt this way towards any major video game villain let alone anyone from a arcade fighter jet game but this shows the great job the voice actor did and the great job the developers have done too. I will go to sleep now and return again tomorrow making my 3rd attempt at putting down crimson 1.

Fun fact: If you had shot down 1 guy from Crimson Team the first time you met them (disregarding the recommendation not to attack them), Crimson 1 would pull back his forces and your friends would be amazed that you managed to shoot down a Peacekeeper. Also don't worry everyone and your waifu are still alive, Sicario has just left the AO so you and Crimson can duel to the last man.

Yeah, I found that using head on attacks from the Foxhound very effective against enemy fighters, I haven't tried it on the last mission yet though. I'm not confident enough that the MG31 can dodge all the ordinance crimson 1 spits out.

Yo thanks alot for your walkthrough. I was soo confused about his 3rd and 4th phase cause i kept getting damage. Making distance and going away from him helped alot. As well as taking fly by missile shots to avoid the huge balls and railguns. Man what an amazing journey this story was.

well for those who felt this was a sad ending spoilers ahead..... after the war cascadia held their part of the bargain with sicario despite the members of hitman being officialy declared wanted criminals, and their wareheabouts unknown.the federation lost huge amounts of wars assets and their reputation was soiled for the use of cordium weapons of mass destruction and as a result are facing multiple insurgent movements from other member states backed by the now independent cascadia among other nations

Most of them are just volunteers from the fanbase or newer VA's trying to get their career started. There wasn't enough Kickstarter money for A-listers.

@@robbievulcan9564 That depends, since some A-listers actually do voice acting just for the fun of it and because they just love working with these passionate fangames. David Hayter (Solid Snake) actually wanted to voice act for a fanmade remake of Metal Gear Solid 1, though he expressed disappointed when the game was issued a cease and desist order. A shame really, which I hope would be remedied if those Sony remake rumors are true. Anyways, hope the VAs here will expand their horizons after this game. I really hope I can hear them on future cartoons and video games.

​@@robbievulcan9564 Several are small-time; Comic (Mikell Dover) is an amateur voice actress as is Kaiser's, apparently Kaiser did a thing for the 40k TTS series. Galaxy's VA is a KZbinr, and Prez (Madeline Dorroh) is a former Blue Sky Animation intern.

Both of them got really screwed over by each other during the making of MGSV and I hope at some point they resolve their differences.

[SPOILER] Mercenary ending reveals what happened. From what could be heard in the credits, they all survived. Your friends...even that Stardust fellow. So the deal was honoured, Monarch collects the funds and "that thing" while your friends go ahead. A couple of federation survivors were talking about trying to say that this latest Cordium calamity was not them...them being only those talking personally so that they can avoid execution. While the others are not really wanted except by mercs and federation they can still apparently remake their lives....But they don't want to be dragged into any more additional work and Monarch is in a position where no one would ever dis him from Cascadian side atleast.
