If you're using default "zombie damage to player-built structures" settings and not lowering or increasing the strength of your structures, each wooden plank added to a window takes a zombie 1 minute and 10 seconds (real time) to break. So 8 planks on a window will give you 9 minutes and 20 seconds with one zombie attacking the barricade. If multiple zombies are effectively and simultaneously attacking the barricade that time goes down, obviously. But it's just a useful thing to know. I haven't timed how long metal barricades last and don't know, as I really only barricade with wood so far.

You could also just build floor on top of the stairs. It blocks the Zs out and is quiet easy to achive if you could not find a sledge. Safety Tip: Close the whole opening of the stairwell. Hordes can sometimes push single Zs upwards. If you have the additional need for safety (like me) stack furniture on the now closed stairwell. I tested this at Bedford Falls University, emptied a shotgun to pull the horde, and none made it through. And you can still use the stairwell yourself when the stairs are gone. Just build a single fence on the ledge, and you can attach a sheet rope. Has the advantage of not being in the open immediately and the rope will get torn down less because the tourists usually don't get to it.

Hi Pr1vateLime, hands down, the best method of barricading is to build a basic low fence, then put a solid object directly behind the fence. Zeds can only crawl over low fences, so if you block the other side with a solid object, that prevents that action, so the zeds leave that area alone completely. This is a fool proof method and will save having to repeatedly rebuild barricades that eventually get destroyed.
@whoknows822311 ай бұрын

Probably because the only zombies I've seen lately is a single mechanic. There was a small horde next to my house at one point, but a gunshot from somewhere made them wander off. I am currently stocking up as much food and water as I possibly can so I can just wait the hordes out. Oh, and I got ambushed while barricading on the outside. Not sure if I got bit or scratched, but I was bleeding. So far no symptoms of zombification. Oh, and I have basically disassembled everything in my house but the bare minimum (bed, sinks, bathtub, a few cabinets, etc.) I don't have a sledgehammer, screwdriver nor a propane torch. If you bring a TV in on Day 1 and use the remove floor tiles and repair as needed you can get a routine early on that if in Survival certainly helps ensure the base comes along nicely. This certainly helps me while I am gathering up supplies to get the base in full working order... so far my main character has around 250 books to burn as fuel, and I wish you could keep books you already read so you didn't suddenly lose perfectly good fire-starter... or after say 5-6 in game months you could reread a book to regain the benefits of it, like in real life...

9:58 Propane grills always need propane whereas charcoal grills can use books, planks and anything flammable... but you need a lighter. Both are awesome and have their pros and cons. They are also very heavy...

It's all very well fortifying the place but what do you do when there's a huge zombie horde out there that won't bugger off? Any tips on how to deal with those? Other than setting a fire and driving around town slowly to burn the entire horde. Are there any useful craftable explosive throwable weapons, for example?
@plasmashade63393 жыл бұрын
If you started as an engineer, you can make aerosol and pipe bombs in PZ. If you have a vehicle, I suggest drawing all of the zombies to a different location using the horn (or sirens when available.) If you don't have a vehicle, you can migrate the zombies on foot with shouts, alarms, and gun shots. If you're dealing with sprinter, smart, or any other atypical zombies, you may just need to spend some time killing instead of relocating them or yourself. In my longest running file, killing zombies has become such a chore that I find more entertainment in parading them somewhere else.

I've been tempted to get into this game, and I think the one other thing that would really sell it for me is if there was some tangible benefit to collecting normal things, if nothing else it should help your sanity, having normal mundane stuff around reminds you that life isn't over. That and something I need to go find out if there is a limit to the number of zombies that exist, cause it'd be a nice touch if its basically the total population of the town, so each zombie you eliminate is a zombie gone forever.
@majicnanasofficial3 жыл бұрын
in the game normally zombies can rrespawn in cells that you dont visit for a while but you can turn that off so eventually a map can run out of zombies if you tried hard enough

I have a house claimed as a base south of the east side police station, in a area with white picket fences, got log walls all around the house, windows barricaded and an "airlock" system for getting out the walls so if there is something out there I can easily duck back in and shut the door behind me, also I can just jump the log wall if it gets to problematic. looted the town right near to me to get all the perishable foods and throw em in the fridge and freezer, sadly I forgot some points and lost some cakes and cheese sandwichs *sadge* but I got plenty of perishable ready then I can go nab lots of the non perishables later, oh and the police station is FULL of guns, so I aint short on ammo, I took a revolver and a shotgun with me, since they dont need mags for bullets....also, just up the road from the police station is a wood building with 2 rain catchers inside ya can swipe for use later.

I have been living out of a storage locker for the past in-game 6 months. Keep all the essentials inside, and have a water barrel outside. There's only one way in, and the storage facility loops around if I need a clever exit.

Great vid again. Heads up though: unless the devs change their minds, the water coolers will be at least a bit heavier after the next update.

Well there is a possibility that you learn slow at the beggining but then you scale up and you learn up really fast after the beggining. Think of it as an End-game focused character. Just putting it out there so maybe it can be useful to you someday

The Riverside School is boobs like March Ridge - You barricade the frontal side - and the whole fenced backside is unpenetrable by zombie hordes, and great for gardening. The Rosewood school suuuuucks a bit because they gimped the fences - they put zombie gaps at each end.

Hey, me and my friend playing coop actually found two water collector barrels (the carpentry level 7 version) in a small fisherman's house next to the river in Riverside. The barrels are actually inside the building, so I've been wondering if it's fine to drink the water stored in it or not, and then take the barrels with us back to base
@alexatparty3 жыл бұрын
The water in them is tainted but you can still cook the water to get clean water atleast. if you mean the water barrels very far left of riverside i have a base there i first empty out both barrels and tried to take them got only 1 of them but if you have enough carpentry you have nearly no chance to brak them after that just place them outside near your base or roof to collect atleast tainted water
@ZzRuanZ3 жыл бұрын
@@alexatparty We are basing at a warehouse next to the gas station at the northwest of Riverside, so it's not too far since we have a working vehicle. We'll try to take some buckets and empty the barrels so my friend can take them (lv6 carpentry from job + TV and trait for spear build) and we can bring them home. Thanks!

For a base you really forgot to mention something very important, first of, generator as it provides electricity. Second fridges and utensil for securing food items. Thirdly, a radio with emergency broadcast in case of helicopter event. And lastly lights, living in the dark even with cat eyes trait sucks! p.s. I am not sure about stick trap on the roof top. As far as I know, you need to leave 75 tiles away from where you stand in order to catch something. (I learn the social distancing between traps and me the hard way by losing bait and not capturing anything)
