Checking the comments for this! So many Australians think of Red Kangaroos as Kangaroos and anything else as a Wallaby. I was sitting on my friends dad's balcony watching them and he kept calling Eastern Greys 'the Wallabies' and I was like ... um 🤨

Luggage. The noun luggage does not pluralize with the addition of the letter s. The proper plural forn is "pieces of luggage." When asked by a Customs Officer 'How many bags do you have? Any bags? How much luggage?" The correct response in English can be "one piece or I have two pieces of lugggage, or a pair Sir, indicating that you have two pieces of lugggage. " If you ever want to be respected by airline check in staff (btw the plural of staff is staff, never say staffs), Immigtation Officers, Customs Officers, you have to be on point about the word LUGGAGE. As you are being secretly judged and profiled by these people, the.way they treat (or mistreat) you can sometimes be pinpointed to this one single word. Imagine proudly entering a Louis Vuitton or Hermés store and saying "I am here to buy some lugggages." Instant cringe, bro! Despite your shiny Amex card, store staff can still see through you as a social climbing plebian. And trust me, they will treat you accordingly. This invisible snobbery is also present when buying a house or apartment. "Are the furnitures included?" is your automatic enrollment in the HOA personna non grata list! The pural form is - pieces of furniture. English is a de rigueur subject in ALL private schools in the Philippines. Usually nuances like these are introduced in our sophomore years (2nd yr high) via English Literature where Filipinos (private Catholic schools) are introduced to Shakespeare, Jane Austen, Hemingway, Frost, Longfellow, Mark Twain etc It is often at this point where words like luggage, furniture are emphatically explained to be preceeded by pieces in order to take their plural forms. The Latin part of daily language use is also carefully expalined (medium/media, criterion/criteria, exempli gratia/e.g./for example, id est/i.e./that is, erratum/errata). We are also taught how to properly punctuate inside the quotation marks "Where is the dog?" asked Mario. is correct vs "Where is the dog"? asked Mario which is incoerect This is how every Filipno child is taught how to read and write in English (and in Pilipino, too) in addition of.course to speaking it. If you have read this far and managed to keep an open mind, here is my final piece iof advice. The word ACTUALLY should be permanently banned from you vocabulary. Watch any talk show from the Philippines, listen to any call center agent, ask any waiter, inquire from your sales clerk in any department store and 100 percent they will always start with "Actually Ma'am ...... because actually, ......actually we have a discount promo for ..... " Triple cringe at the over use of this one singular adverb. Now back to our regular programming.....LOL

You need a car in Melbourne? False, you do not require a car to get around Melbourne, there’s ample public transit buses, trains, trams and usually very good active transit with bike lanes and sidewalks. Melbourne is in places straddled with 1950s, 60s, 70’s and 80’s urban development which has left some areas of the suburbs with horribly limited active transit but it is getting better rapidly. I knew instantly you were in the South Eastern burbs which due to it’s string of conservative governments lacks decent active transit.

It's my favorite place in the world so far. Only problem is the growing crime. It was still super safe when I lived there 2007-2008. I had no problem walking alone at night in any part of town (other than Footscray, haha). But outside of Footscray, there were virtually no bad neighborhoods in the entire city of Melbourne. Now in the 2020s you have a lot of questionable immigrants with criminal backgrounds who fight openly in broad daylight on Flinders St. And the neoliberal government actively encourages the crime. I can't remember the name of your neighborhood, but I had friends who lived there. Hands down the nicest neighborhood I saw while I was there. And I'm sure the crime hasn't affected your neighborhood too much - yet. But eventually it will. And it's not fun if you can't leave your neighborhood and go downtown or go to the entertainment districts.

They mark the chalk so next time they come back they know you were there last time. And even if you move to a different space nearby they may still see the chalk.
