You may never see this....but here's my request: Personal blenders that don't need to blend anything more tricky than frozen fruit and kale. I genuinely know hundreds of people (via a kitchen group I belong go) that are looking for personal blenders that combine quality + good value + aesthetics. WHY is it so hard to make something that's appealing like a SMEG (I'm Italian/lived in Italy ) but I question its effectiveness, especially for the high pricepoint.

The Nutribullet is unavailable, hope they didn't discontinue. Wonder if there is a newer but at least equivalent version now? Seems the Syvio isn't either. (the two better but reasonably priced blenders on the list)

A big benefit of the Vita-Mix that you don't mention is that it is fully rebuildable. I run a restaurant and we have all Vita-Mix blenders in the kitchen and bar, and the rebuild kits are relatively cheap and replace all wear parts off the motor. You can run these things all day for years and when the clutches start slipping or the teeth on the drive gear get worn, it takes about 5 minutes to replace them and you're back up and running for another year or two. The motor is also pretty much indestructible, so these things are basically immortal. Makes the price a little bit easier to swallow.
@dlewis97602 жыл бұрын
Most home users won't be running them nearly as much as you. The time interval for a breakdown may be an extremely long time. You are correct though. You pay for industrial grade construction and most of the time you will get it.

This one hits close to home. My son was on a blenderized diet for most of his life. After chewing through a number of different food processors and blenders, we finally pulled the trigger on the Vitamix. We picked it up as a factory reconditioned model from a kitchen store at an outlet mall. Full warranty and it only set us back about $250. It looked and operated like brand new. We used this blender for over 13 years and it withstood a lot of use. The power switch failed on us once. Still within the 10 year warranty time period (yes, 10 years), they asked us to send the whole unit with upper jar/lid and everything. We explained what we used the blender for, they had a replacement sent for us a few days later to use as a loaner while they fixed ours. A week and a half later we received our old blender back. it returned to us with the power switch assembly replaced as well as a whole new upper jar (which included a new blade, lid, and tamper). I am assuming that if there were any other internals that needed replacing, they probably did that too. As to this day, it is still running strong. SO, say what you will about the expensive price tag. If you want a blender to withstand the test of time AND be backed by an excellent company with a warranty that beats them all, then Vitamix is the only way to go.

If you're interested in KitchenAid, AvE has a good breakdown video. He tends to be a bit crude, but the content is good. The biggest thing I learned from buying a KA Pro 600 is that they really struggle at kneading larger batches of whole wheat or enriched dough like brioche. Their stated capacity is based on very soft white bread loaves; they just don't have the power for large batches or heavy dough. If you are just making cookies, cakes, and icing then you will be fine, but adventurous bread makers will likely run into problems with a Kitchenaid. On the plus side, when you wear the gears down, KA mixers are very modular and easy to repair yourself. As someone who makes bread, if I had to do it again I'd look at the Bosch universal or the Ankarsrum mixer, or bite the bullet and get a Famag.

As a home gardener with a quasi-chef hobby, I decided to splurge on a Vitamix earlier this year. It's a beast for sure. I freeze whole garden tomatoes and can throw them into the blender, frozen, with some spices and other vegetables and create a too-hot-to-eat tomato soup totally by friction in about six minutes. From frozen! Smoothies are great. Blackberry seeds, which I despise, disappear. I have the A3500 model. This is an amazing blender; I have not needed to use the plunger and I have used this machine a lot. One thing you did not cover was the warranty. Vitamix has a full 10 year warranty including the jar and lid. They also pay shipping both directions for warranty repairs as they doubt you will ever need it. I believe they state less than 2% have had an issue. I ordered mine on sale from Macys plus received a $100 credit for opening a cc account so my cost was substantially lower than list, but it is still expensive. First time I have commented. Really enjoy your videos.

This is fantastic! I’ve gone through many blenders in my time. Everything is plastic and not made with quality. So far the best blender is still my Mom’s Oster blender from the 1970’s. Thanks for that Todd. 10-ish years I did a similar test for my business and ended up with two Vitamix "Bar Boss" blenders @ $750 each (even though my business does not server alcohol) and two additional containers @ $250 each. What I discovered was having a larger, flatter canister bottom aided the blending action for making smoothies and frappes. My canisters are triangle shaped; I use chunk ice, milk, frappe mix and off we go for 1 minute. I have made tens of thousands of frappes and smoothies. Your testing is perfectly in line with my experience. We had 3-4 blenders in the first 14 or so years of our marriage. The first was seemingly of the old metal and large motor design often associated with old American products that simply worked and lasted. Following that, the Hamilton Beach or Oster normal mixers only seemed to last a very short time in our home. The Vitamin was bought at Costco with the original tall design and it has been unbelievably good for about 10 years. The price was well under half of the price you quoted for the Vitamix at that time. Great review and it is nice to see that it still holds up to the competition.

completely agree. Even a shootout between blendtec and vitamix would be great. One thing i am on the lookout for, which most of people from India would relate to immediately, is a blender capable of making 'dosa' batter. I ended up buying a $350 machine just to make that single batter as it is a staple for us. Was willing to spend $500 on a single blender if i could avoid buying that $350 wet grinder.

Fantastic review! As a professional chef I can't say I'm real surprised- the Vitamix is a beast, and there's a reason so many restaurants use them. As great as your review is I have just one quibble; you should have added a Blendtec! It's practically a two-horse race between those brands. After using the Vitamix for many years at work I actually wound up buying the Blendtec and for my uses it's marginally superior. Still great work! I agree, $600 is too much for a home blender unless you're going to be making peanut butter and smoothies almost every day. Of those it looks like the Nutribullet is arguably the best value.

As someone very much affected my texture, I stopped making smoothies years ago with my cheapo blender because they just weren't, well, smooth enough. Ended up pitching the thing altogether. So spending the big bucks could potentially be the difference between WANTING to make a smoothie every day and not wanting to. If the goal is to want to, which I imagine is the case for a lot of health-conscious people, that ought to be a factor to consider. Just my $.02

@@SepticFuddy Absolutely agree. After years of cheap non effective blenders, my wife and I finally decided to take the plunge and buy a Vitamix. For approximately a year now we make smoothies almost everyday, when before we only made them once or twice a year.

I would argue that if you won't be mixing seeds and instead want to often crush ice (and frozen fruits/veggies, probably), the Ninja is a good alternative to the Nutribullet (and to the Vitamix even). Otherwise, Nutribullet or Vitamix are the best all-rounders.

Y'all... I laughed when my partner asked me and our friends to crowdfund a refurbished Vitamix for her birthday. That thing is bananas. We spent that first weekend buying up all the bulk nuts at our favorite grocery store and made a bunch of butters. Lookong back it was a little ridiculous but a lot of fun. Took us several months to get through it all. It's great for making hummus. Babaganoush. Making our own flour. If you are curious, definitely go refurb. It was about 2/3 the cost of a new one at the time and came with a good warranty. Thanks as always for the awesome videos! Loving the household goods.

Part of the issue that isn't measurable within these tests is durability. A cheap blender that has half the cost and half the reliability means you're getting marginally similar performance at approximately the same cost but twice the headache.

The wife and I use our blender twice a day, every day mixing frozen fruits and vegetables into smoothies. After burning out many, many Nutribullets (their average life was about every three months) she bought a Vitamix in 2014. Even it had to go back for repair (once) but there's no question that it has cost less over time with fantastic performance. Vitamix also has a stainless steel container option--an important consideration for my wife (the plastic containers quickly get terrible stains from the greens in the smoothies).

Hey man, I really appreciate these videos. I have to say, even as a non buyer of a blender this is still interesting and fun to watch. In fact, all of your videos are! Every few weeks or so, i go on a binge watch session of your videos and its really fun.

At this point, I'm surprised Ryobi hasn't made a blender, as they seem to have an 18 volt tool for everything else😂 Great test, PF! I was just thinking about getting a new blender the other day, and now PF has blessed us with a blend-out!

I was thinking about something similar the other day about Canon and another company (not Tesla) making smartphones or Costco making cars.

Naw, it would have to be in their 40v tool line, not enough umph from 18v

My family has been using an Oster Versa blender for the past 12 years. They replaced three with warranty. Only issue was that the seals in the container kept leaking. If you don't make soup often, I bet it'll last forever.

I have that blender! After being given a Vitamix the Oster stays on the shelf. Vitamix smoothies are smoother, creamier and overall better. But the Oster pours better without dripping.

We had one of those, but eventually the jar seals started leaking and replacements were no longer available. Went with a Vitamix next time.

And the added bonus is the Oster isn't made in China! (Mexico now, but oh well!)

Vitamix originally invented the electric blender back in the 1960s actually. Every professional kitchen I worked in only used them for a reason. My dad has had the same one for over 15 years. Definitely a worthwhile investment.

I've had the same Hamilton Beach for over 15 years. The question is how often it gets used.

@@ClickLikeAndSubscribeif you’re vegan/whole foods, it gets used a lot.
@samuel59162 жыл бұрын
@@ClickLikeAndSubscribe My Dad uses it weekly, sometimes daily. Due to health conditions he ate a lot of raw and vegan food. Smoothies and raw soups are two of his favorites things to make. That being said, they only lasted a few years in professional kitchens where they get used for hours and hours everyday. Still an impressive amount of abuse they can take.

I never had a problem with my old Ninja blender/food processor combo I bought at Target back in 2011. It still works to this day, but I think the motor on it has slowed down a bit. It still makes great smoothies though. The blades are still very sharp. Have you thought about testing a BlendTec Total Blender? I heard they make awesome blenders. Some businesses use them with great results.

Great video as always. Our Vitamix is the best blender we ever bought, still going strong after 19 years. Never had a problem with it. A video suggestion would be so called nonstick frying pans. I have never been able to find a good one.

I didn’t see this before I bought one a week ago. I love how this video is straightforward and goes quickly. This is my kind of review video. Kudos! But you only reviewed one Ninja. I got Professional Plus with 1400 watts but really don’t know what I’m going to use it for. Target didn’t have the one I wanted. This video reminds me of an auction. Haha.

@@ProjectFarm recommend you take extreme care with that idea if you do it, since PFAS chemicals involved in making a most nonstick pans nostick, can be horrifyingly toxic in the short-term and carcinogenic in the long term. As long as you don't inhale fumes from an overheated pan you're fine usually, but it's worth keeping in mind.

I'm curious about the not lasting a year comment. My basic tfals have lasted for years and are still like new. The only thing I can think of is I inky use up to medium heat and use plastic or wooden utensils.

I should hope the Vita-Mix leads the pack given it's price tag. But an impressive appliance. I would have liked to see how the blenders also performed if the ice was added gradually. Speaking as someone who uses an older classic Oster blender I don't toss everything in at once. It does a fine job as long as I keeps it's power limitations in mind. You've peaked my curiosity about how mine will handle the Chia seed test. Thanks !

If you don't mind making the initial investment. A Vitamix is basically on it's on level and is definitely worth the cost. It will out last any other blender and it's the only blender you can whip with because of it's excellent RPM. Good video as Always. Try blending frozen watermelon with lime or frozen pineapple with like in the Vitamix it's as close to a dole whip as you can get. Good stuff

Got my wife a vitamix last year and the thing is awesome. I think one underrated feature of it is how easy it is to clean. Warm water and drop of dawn run for 30 seconds and pretty much good to go.

You can also buy a reconditioned Vitamix. I bought the 7500 for about half retail price 2 years ago. This thing makes the best smoothies and frozen margaritas ever. Works just like new to this day.
