Looks awesome! I recently built my shop, tons of work! (See it on my channel). Since your in Florida does it stay cool? Concrete looks nice, any reason why you didn’t go with color on floors? I’m at the other end of the country almost to Canada. I put 10” of insulation walls and ceiling. Hoping to keep it warm. I had door issues because of my wall height, wish I’d planned a little better. Cool lights

Hey congrats on the new shop! It stays 'relatively' cool with the 4" insulation and the insulated doors. I've also done the brush sweeps around the roll-up door perimeters to control the environment a bit more. In addition spray foaming and caulking any seams/holes in the building has helped tons as well. I run a dehumidifier which keeps the shop at a constant 50% humidity along with a large fan that runs every few hours to keep air circulating around. As for the concrete, sealing was the cheaper and faster solution so I could start moving stuff in and I can always add some flair to the floor down the line.

If your building an office, why not put a roof on it and then where the cabinets would be put a wooden staircase against the back wall to get to the top and you can have hidden storage to reduce clutter on the shop floor.

Nice. When you recover financially go back and polish the concrete.... We are in planning phase of our farm / shop/ storage building. One of our business is polishing natural stone and concrete. We did our current shop in 1996??? It was 5 or 6 years old. We left 25 % floor untreated... no comparison. Figure 3 to 5 sq ft depending on what look... semi or gloss.... inexpensive 5 year sealer or 15 sealer. Prices are all over the board.... A good floor treatment will cost you money once. A bad system will cost you money every time you go to clean it. Enjoy...

what is the temperature in the building in the heat of the summer? I live up the road from you in the Orlando area and I was curious about that. Still trying to decide how far I want to go into insulation and then A/C.
@Projectfd
@Projectfd 4 жыл бұрын
Slab was 86 degrees F the other day when it was 96 outside with one bay door open and a fan running. The biggest issue is moisture mitigation in the shop. The dryer it is, the less hot it feels (for me at least).

If your having someone do all the work, prepare for the ballpark of 100k all in. This is of course pre-steel tarrif, so could be up to 25% more on steel for the building and rebar for the concrete

Great looking shop! One thing I found for insulation is the Energy Saver system. It consists of a once piece vapor barrier/thermal break that is draped over straps on the ceiling, then rolled insulation over the straps, then another layer over that in the opposite direction, then the roof is applied. I was initially thinking about spray foam, but I have heard too many bad things about it lately to risk using it. Then I want to sheet the entire interior with 3/4" plywood. Run all the electric exposed on top of the plywood. Then for lighting, I found some 6' and 8' LED light strips. Spaced every 6, it should light the inside up super bright. Thanks for all the information on concrete sealers, expansion joint fillers, Door air leaks, I had not even thought of that. I have been struggling to decide if I want to use conventional Red Iron or the cheaper 12 gauge box beam construction. I will probably end up using the box beam construction but have them design the beams on 24" centers instead of the 48" centers they normally use. It wont be as Heavy Duty as the red iron buildings, but it will probably be half the price too. Since I will be sheeting the whole thing, I think that will make up for it as long as they can design the structure to carry the load of the plywood sufficiently.

Glad it was helpful! After living with this sealant for over a year both inside and out front I can't recommend it at all. The sikaflex in the expansion joints however should be a requirement. You're probably done with the interior but now, but I just watched some other metal building videos and think I have decided on using 3/4" tongue and groove plywood for the walls. Mount in vertically so it runs up to 8'. Could leave section between plywood and the ceiling exposed, or finish it with white sheathing/paneling like this kzbin.info/www/bejne/fpfKgnehnNqcmrc . They finished the ceiling in that bldg also. I copied a link to your video because I liked what you did to manage runoff from the rain.
