COMMON ISSUE - Brake caliper seized on the Peugeot 807

It started off a pretty standard disc and pads change but turned into a 3 day journey :)

It looks exactly same as the one used on early VW Sharan and Seat Alhambra vehicles. Another common issue with them is hand brake shaft gets corroded inside and seizes. Unfortunately proper way to repair it involves taking all caliper apart, cleaning all the rust out and filling with some thick lubricant (for future rust prevention) to cavity where the shaft sits before inserting shaft back to it's place. Or just replace the caliper completely as new is cheap enough and not worth time wasting on fixing it.

One of the few problems on my C8 2.2 HDi 173 hp (just like yours) was a seized calliper at about 40,000 miles. I got a second hand one for about £25 on EBay, fitted it in about an hour, and it has now done 165,000 without any further problems.

For better access to the brake fluid reservoir, just take out the pollen filter cassette.

I have one too, same colour even, a Norwest 6 speed manual 100Kw HDi, had the same issue with rear caliper when I bought it 2 years ago. I carry many different loads, seats in, or seats out. A fantastic vehicle. Odd.....a bit!

Happy days I’ve gotta do a handbrake issue one side and a whole caliper job the near side on a 07 expert van 🤦🏼🤷‍♂️2track rods 2 wishbones 4 cv boots frigging shit job but I’m skint and need to get back to work so needs must lol

I had exact same problem and affects hand brake also. Bought my 08 model really cheap cos needed work spent about 1k but well worth it, brilliant to drive and loads of room.

Yeah with there being no rear brake shoes the handbrake is attached to a lever and spring which presume adds pressure to the fluid and makes the piston clamp slightly. But if the piston is seized it won't do nothing 🤣

@@projectfearn check rear shocks I had to renew mine, once it's all done you'll love it. Just put wind reflectors on mine and ordered bonnet stone chip deflector.

Most of it is either galvanised or plastic. Mine, at 12 years and about 150,000 miles had virtually no rust. Only little brackets and exhaust fitting showed any rust at all. One year later there is a bit of surface rust in the rear suspension area but for 13 years old I reckon it’s excellent.
