I have the SCPH-101 PSone, but I'm not sure if its bios 4.4 or 4.5 as it says October 2000 on the bottom of it. There's from 2000-03-24 and 2000-05-25 on the GitHub so I'm wondering which one I do for my PSone?? Not sure but I'm thinking the 05-25 since its closer to October. I can do it probably fairly easy on my ps 2 with fmcb and mcav20 if I just knew which one to download. lol!! 😌 I may just have to wait. Maybe that ones not compatible yet.

Actually all NTSC-J consoles (such as 1000,3000,3500,5000,5500,7000,7500,9000) cannot run backup cd though they could run freepsxboot.

Don't use the 20210414 v1.0 files from the release page. Use the 20210419 update images on the front Github page. They fixed a lot and it works much better.

Hey i want to ask something. I use my hard drive to play games like a usb with a sata cable to the usb port(I dont use WINHIP). If i buy a sata connector for hdd port in the ps2 can i play these games like this or i have to onstall games with WINHIP?

Let's think about this. Even if you are able to make the android phone be the smb server, how are you physically going to connect the PS2 to the phone to access the smb share? A OTG usb, and then a USB to Ethernet adapter?

Question. I have a GameShark Pro. If I do this mod, after hitting play and it boots the backup disc, will I be able to still use my GameShark? It’s a parallel port GameShark pro where you can press button in game and pull up a hack menu that lets you create gs codes. Normally, you boot ps and it loads into the GameShark where you pick codes you want to use them launch game. Then in game press GS button and it pops the menu up for memory editor etc. but I’m wondering since GS pro 3.0 boots into GS menu first, which will boot first? The mod or the GS menu? And if it’s the mod booting, when I hit play will it allow me to press the GS button for menu or no.

The only sad thing about the Ps1 you can't play games from a hard drive, i mean a proper hard drive like the ps2. i have 15 ps1 consoles, 35 ps2 consoles, some chipped with 2tb hard drives in full of games, also have a few modified wii's with 500gb external hard drives full of games and HDloader.

I think non Sony memory cards are fine. Burning discs I use imgburn, select the bin or cue file and burn at half speed of cd-r max speed

Everything works fine until I press play after boot cd. The last messages say "waiting for CD to become ready & unlocked.." "Disc State: Seeking 2..." and then nothing happens, just stays there. Anyone know what it could be?

Also, MCA v2 will freeze upon trying to read a FreePSXBoot Memory Card as well. ​@The MAUZ Alright I concede on the fact of OddWorld: Abe's Oddysee and Cool Boarders 4 are able to clear the exploit but it is stated on the GitHub that it won't work on every version of the exploit. There is some truth after all to some things you said but it seems to be highly dependent on the version of hardware and software. Having more information on the exact hardware versions that facilitate the restoration of the original card functionality would be most beneficial.

Hello. Please help me. Iam really desperate. Iam doing everything right. But when Iam in the anihilator I choose the Image restore and iam navigating to the unirom. The Anihilator cant see it in the directories. Iam sure its correct version etc. Just the file is not visible when Iam navigating to the image. HELP

I might have uncovered an issue which may affect some users. I have a SCPH1001 with a laser swapped from a 101 and the exploit just freezes on the memory card screen each time. This may not work correctly on Frankenstein systems.

I bricked 2 mem cards with my 1001, but I think mine is stock. I think there are issues with the 1001.

@@CustomGames-wg9gv don’t throw your cards away though, I found a way to unbrick them. Luckily I have another newer untouched PS1 that took the mod and I was then able to boot into unirom and reformat the bad cards there. They work fine now. I had created my cards using MCA with a modded PS2 and after the brick the PS2 would halt every time they were plugged in (which was documented by the creator). So either there are issues with the older models or my bios is looking for a different model Laser module than what I have and it is bricking the cards.

(before video) TonyHax was a flop. Might be because the PS1 I have is old and from the FFVII era and is also capable of playing VCDs (has the direct RCA outputs on the back), but none of the discs I tried loaded except for one and it locked up after a few seconds. Maybe it's the quality of the discs, maybe I suck at burning them, I don't know. What I do know? I got to listen to THPS2 menu music whilst I tried loading each game. #Nostalgia --- So, this requires a completely freed up memory card. Huh. Well, be worth a try I suppose. After I get tired of running games via OPL. Yeah; it's a new thing for me. Hmmm...but to answer the question you asked with a #RandomFave, that would be Gran Turismo 2; the Plus mod is really cool.

You need to write the prebuilt image to your PS1 card, it's not a save file at all.

I don't have an Xstation and I'm PAL so I'm not even sure how this would work, sorry. If you have Xstation to begin with, then I don't see the need to use FreePSXBoot unless I am missing something important

@@ProjectPhoenixMedia I was able to install the software on a 3rd party memory card but i haven't tested it yet because i don't have my PS1s withme they are at a storage unit over 10 systems and we can actually get 3rd party memory cards for cheap Also Libretro made more emulators for the PS2 I even got codebreakers 3.3, 4.0, 5.0, 6.0, 7.0, 9.2, 9.3, 10.0 and 10.1 to work on free mcboot through there ELF files i even got a few pre codebreakers that were released before codebreaker 3.3 and i managed to get them to work from there ELFs too

I know it's out of topic but I need to ask about smth. I'm planning to soft mod my PS2Slim and use the FreeDVDBoot ESR Patch method.... BUT I also want to use external USB storage (a large Pendrive will be enough I suppose) as storage for PSX Games. But here's my question: what OTHER possibilities that external storage can give to my PS2 console?

Other than holding ps1 or ps2 games, you could put roms on there and use emulators to play those roms like genesis or nes. Some people may put old school video files and use SMS player to play said files, but these days I'd rather use like plex or kodi to do that as PS2 is not that great for this multimedia player service.

You might need to do swap trick method on freepsxboot. However, not all Japanese PSX model works well with swap trick.
