I have both E1500 LFP and E2000 LFP. My main use is for home backup in case of an outage. I combine both Pecron power stations in a "master- slave" way. The E1500 is the master and the E2000 is the slave support unit with its larger solar yielding capacity and larger battery. The E1500 having the UPS mode powers the critical loads like the refrigerator, the freezer, the modem-WiFi router and the home automation. On the E1500 LFP, the 32 -95 V "solar" input port is always prioritized over the wall outlet supplied Ac input internal charging port. This way allows to recharge the E1500 LFP battery with either solar or using the Pecron charging "brick" with the aviation connector or a 48 V battery charger linked to the 32 -95 V by means of a Pecron provided cable with the aviation connector. Also, this way allows the utility supplied input 1400 Watt port internal charger to work only when there is no solar or any other source supplying the 32 -95 V "solar" input port. Otherwise, when there is power supplied to the 32 -95 V "solar" input port, the AC internal charger is moderated to just top off the battery, So, 2400 W of solar panels supply the slave Pecron E2000 LFP that in return feeds power in the 32 -95 V "solar" input port of the E1500 LFP when needed. This feed is from a E2000 LFP Ac output to an external "brick" that provides 42 V - 15 A to the 32 -95 V "solar" input port of the E1500 LFP. I noticed that the E1500 LFP "requires" input power to recharge only when the battery shows less than a 96 % level. The solar input of the E1500 LFP being prioritized, the "slave" E2000 LFP AC output and accompanying brick charger remain idle until the next E1500 demand. Since the above mentioned critical loads only draw about 200 Watt-hour per hour from the E1500 LFP, the slave E2000 LFP battery gets fully charged and stops all solar input. To benefit the available free solar energy one just has to plug in some other load in the E2000 Ac outputs. When possible, sometimes we plug in a space heater. Some other times, when the sun shines, we cook using a counter top oven between 20 and 60 minutes (not to deplete deeply the E2000 battery), or a hot plate, or a small slow cooker. We always care not to deplete the E2000 battery lower than 80 % by the end of daylight. No one knows what will happen during the night or the day after. Recently, hundreds of miles away from home for 15 days, we appreciated our Pecron setup especially using the E1500 LFP WiFi monitoring app. All the critical loads were linked to the E1500 LFP. With our home WiFi router always on, we consulted the E1500 LFP status and using a camera we also monitored the E2000 status over the Internet. We were also able to activate the utility supplied heating appliances. The only missing part was that we could not activate any new load over the Internet to use the extra solar energy when the E2000 battery went to 100 %. Since then we got a WiFi controlled space heater and no longer reject the free solar energy when the power stations batteries are fully charged.

Thank you for the review. After watching several channels reviewing several different Solar Power Generators I decided to buy Pecron E1500 LFP with 2-200 watt solar panels. They are due to arrive in their warehouse end of November. Hopefully I will receive mine shortly after. I am looking forward to the Solar Power Generator experience. House back-up, camping, boating ETC. I only hope that most of these reviews (yours and others ) have some reliability to them. At the very least they are very informative to the public. I thank you for the time and effort. I take these reviews with a grain of salt and try to use my own knowledge about these products. I realize some are sponsored and rightfully so. I am just a consumer interested in a product to serve a purpose. I will be glad to let you and your viewers know how it works out once I receive the unit. Thanks again for your time and review.

Like you said, you have to do your own research. My goal in my reviews is to do actual testing in situations people will see or attempt and show you what happens. As you said, it's up to you to digest that information and see how it applies to your situation. Everyone's situation is different, there is no perfect solution that is right for everyone. That being said, I don't have long term reliability results for this unit, but for the price point Pecron has some impressive performance. Let us all know how it works for you.

Yeah I really don't need a UPS. However theoretically I could turn on my inverter, plug my charger into the wall and plug the fridge into the unit and it would act as a UPS. Not as efficient but it would work. Thats what I do when we get hurricane warnings down here in Florida. So unless my fridge is drawing more watts then my charger which it won't the unit will be a 100% and stay on if the lights go out. When lights come back it starts charging again. @@ProjectsWithDave

Excellent review! Answered a lot of my questions. I do have question though, i am looking at a few different stations with an extra battery. One brand in particular is Vtoman. I have read a few reviews on their website that would indicate the an automated switch over from the extra to the main battery is not happening, does the Pecron auto switch once the extra is depleted? Seems like that should be standard on these devices. Thank you!

The Pecron maintains a basic balance between the batteries. In the video I showed connecting a charged expansion battery to a completely dead inverter battery. The expansion battery started shifting power over to the inverter battery to balance the distribution of energy.

OK, I admire this review with "Dave". Here's the disappointment for a lot of us Senior Citizens and millions of those who have no Engineering Degree, i.e. Dave made a comment about 1000Wats per meter Squared! What the heck is that??? and it goes on with all these special tools measuring this and that... what the heck does this mean to most of us? Where is the video for this solar generator being reviewed in simple terms? Shame on you PECRON. I saw Dave's GIANT solar panels... who is going to put them in their backyard?? Where is the common sense presentation of what this can do, what appliances it can run and for how long in simple terms? What solar panels would best best to charge in the average back yard? Most of us are looking at a SHTF situation and want to know what generator will power our basic appliances, how long will our unit take to charge with how many panels needed to make it within a day... we need something simpler! Advice: make your egghead presentation then provide a simpler version! I'd watch both and I know many other would as well. Shame on PERCON for not having anyone you can talk with as all you questions have to be emailed with email responses in return. I was going to spend over 5,000 on a unit with extra batteries and panels, but am having second thoughts... what if something goes wrong with your unit? Email is the only way to communicate with this company? Go to a company you can actually talk to!

Great Review! Wow - so detailed, so well done. QUESTION: I have 2000 lfp in the bed of my Jeep Gladiator, charge it via vehicle alternator and Renogy 2000W inverter, and use it to power everything overlanding. Cooking. lights, entertainment, Starlink - Just excellent for the past year and a half. NOW I want to increase the capacity. Looking at the 3000 when I came across your excellent review. The one thing that I really DONT LIKE about the 2000 is the horrible, bulky, noisy, charger. In my dusty environment, it stops regularly and I need to then clean it out (fan stops due to dust). Is there a way to use the 1500 and its internal charger and then charge the 2000 from the 1500 - that would make my decision clear.
@ProjectsWithDave
@ProjectsWithDave 6 ай бұрын
Thanks! I'm glad it was helpful. If I understand you correctly, you are converting your Vehicle 12VDC to 120VAC with the Renogy, then converting that back to DC with the external brick to charge your Pecron? It would be more efficient to use a DC/DC converter to up the 12V from the vehicle to somewhere between 24-48V and charge the Pecron through the PV input port. You could then just add an expansion battery which also has an additional DC input for charging. If you don't need more than a 100W charging rate, you could use the 12V 100W PV input straight from the vehicle 12V system. If you have the expansion battery you could charge with 100W at 12V to the 2000lfp and an additional 400W at 12V directly into the expansion battery. (I haven't tested to see if you can get the full 400W input on the expansion battery at 12V.) That would give you 500W total of charging off your 12V system with no inverter or DC/DC converter.

Did tons of research and ordered a 1500 a couple of weeks ago and hope to receive early next month. Still doing research on a panel. Have you tested their 330w portable panel? Will look to add an extra battery after I pick up a solar panel. I will augment a solar panel with my dual fuel generator. Thanks!
@ProjectsWithDave
@ProjectsWithDave 8 ай бұрын
I haven't tested the 330W panel. If it performs similar to their 200W folding panel, you can expect to get about 250W out of it. If you don't need the portability, it is much cheaper to purchase ridged panels. Just make sure it falls in the voltage range, target 40V to 80V.
@devinmadison8312
@devinmadison8312 6 ай бұрын
probably better to get different panels to max out the solar input, 2 330w will only get you about 500w total of solar charging. and you cant put 3 330w panels in series because the voltage will be to high.

Great video, just received mine. I have a folding 300w panel for camping, 18v. Is it ok to wire this up to the aviation port even though the volts are below 32? Seems like I am over the watts on the 100w port and under the volts on the aviation port.
@ProjectsWithDave
@ProjectsWithDave 6 ай бұрын
This highlights my biggest complaint about the solar input for this unit. The voltage ranges for the two ports don't overlap. Since it is under 32V it likely won't trigger the MPPT on the 32-95V port and you will get no input. You are at the top of the voltage range for the 100W port, but it should be ok, the only issue is you will be caped at 100W as the input for your 300W panel. If you had another 300W panel you could put them in series and use the higher voltage port.

Also when the AC inverter is on it makes a noise that I wash wasn’t there. This is my first power unit like this. Is that consistent with what to expect? I plan on putting out a video with it, focusing on woodworking coincidentally enough.
@ProjectsWithDave

I haven't see those issues. What kind of lights are you using (LED, incandescent, florescent)? Do they flicker when other appliance turn on, or when running just by themselves? AC inverters make a slight humming noise when running, usually almost imperceptible when not under load. What kind of noise do you hear? How loud is it? Do you hear it under load, or just at idle?
@pattognozzi

@@ProjectsWithDave The lights are all led, I’ve tried multiple shop lights and Edison style screw in. They all put out a rapid flicker very similar to this video. kzbin.infogmytIKsUy2s?si=mPM0NMSl-NJ0fbLQ They do it even when the unit is under load running a 1000 watt heater. The noise is only present when the AC inverter is on. The DC inverter is almost dead silent. The AC inverter noise is similar to static coming from an amp. I bought an inexpensive oscilloscope to test the sine wave to see if there is a detectable issue there. I contacted support and they were quick to reply asking for a video, they seem genuinely helpful. I’m just not sure if any of these sound normal for a power unit.

I don't remember at the moment if that unit has a slow charge setting. If it doesn't, it will attempt to pull the entire load and likely stall the generator. It's very close, you would have to try it to see. If your generator puts out 110V instead of 120V it might work. Also, if the battery is mostly charged it will pull less power.

(I would think that all generators would be "regulated" to prevent them from blasting off to the moon, but I don't know...so I have also contacted the manufacturer of the generator. Not heard back yet. The generator is 120v. There is no slow charge setting on the power station that I see.

Just plug it in and see what happens. If the generator can't keep up it will shut down the AC output or stall.

I saw the battery clamps. Will this unit jump start a car?
@ProjectsWithDave
@ProjectsWithDave 8 ай бұрын
The DC port is only 30A, which is not enough to jump start a car. However, you could charge a depleted battery as long as the charge rate didn't exceed the 30A max. Once the battery was charged you could start the car.

It's good but mine overheats when charging from 10% with mains power. I have to stop at about 70% as the temperature warning light comes on... A little disappointed. Tried talking to Pecron about it but just get fobbed off.

Interesting, thanks for sharing your issue for others to reference. I have charged at max input from fully discharged with no heat issues whatsoever. Are you in a high temperature environment?

@@ProjectsWithDave I got a reply for Pecron support I got your feedback, I need to explain to you that UPS generally does not affect overheating, overheating occurs most of the time: the machine has just been discharged from 100% to no power, and then immediately after charging, in this case the machine is prone to overheating; If under normal circumstances, such as the E1500LFP a day without use (can be regarded as a cooling state), can not be discharged from 100% to 0% and thermal protection, this situation may be the machine's temperature probe problem; Currently the E1500LFP model cannot modify the charging power, we have collected the suggestions from our customers and adjusted to add this feature in the subsequent release of the model.

Is your unit actually getting hot when charging? If not, it may be the temperature probe is defective as noted above.

35000 Cycles? Really? Come on, Mr Pecron Salesman on KZbin. Someone GAVE you THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS of dollars worth of equipment. You would like that equipment to keep coming in, why would ANYONE listen to what you have to say? LOL. PECRON, I will NOT buy your product JUST BECAUSE OF THIS GUY.
@ProjectsWithDave
@ProjectsWithDave 5 ай бұрын
It's true 3,500 cycles to 80% is a book number that I did not confirm in my test. However, that is a typical cycle life for LiFePO4 batteries. As for the rest of the results, I am just testing the product in some real world applications and giving you the results. You can decide if the product is right for you or not. I don't need equipment to come in, turn down 99% of the products offered to me an only test the ones I expect to perform well, have a good value, or have some creative new innovation. As for the Pecron E1500LFP, except for the high idle consumption mentioned in the video, it's actually a nice package at a value price and performs very well. Hope that helps!

I love and appreciate your videos but I just can't get behind Pecron. They are notoriously held together with bubble gum and tape. Everything about them is cheap and not in the good cheap kind of way. They are time bombs just waiting to break on you. A headache just waiting to happen.

Let me guess. You don't own one and have no hands on with a Pecron. I own six (different models) and have had zero problems. Their tech support via email is also good. I've seen breakdowns of several models and they are decent quality construction and components.

I watched a teardown of a PECRON unit ounce and it had cardboard inside. Their short warranty reflects the quality you should expect.

I have had 2000 lip for a year and a half. It sits in the bed of my jeep gladiator and is charged when I am driving the jeep from the Jeeps alternator via a renergy 2000 W inverter. It has powered everything in my Overlanding set up. Everything in my Off Grid trailer. I use it to cook, I use it to power my Starlink Internet, I use it to power everything every single day. It has not even blinked. It’s absolutely rocksolid and built like the Great Wall of China so I’m not sure where you’re getting your perception that it is made cheaply. I am 100% satisfied with both function and build quality. You should probably actually go put your hands on one and then update your posting.

I’ve had issues with my E1500lfp ever since I got it. Incorrect state of charge readouts and doesn’t always take a charge. If I discharge it any percentage after being fully charged and then plug the AC charger back in, the battery drops to 1 percent on the display and will not count up in percentage while charging. Sometimes it sits there for hours and won’t take the AC input charge. Some sort of improper status readout from the BMS.
