Hey Aaron, thanks for taking the time to walk us thru some of the pitfalls of xj ownership. I've used a number of your tips. Please keep them coming !

In the upper midwest those who really care coat the bottom and inside of the rockers with Fluid Film or Woolwax (same company, different formulas). I prefer shooting Woolwax as it smells better and isnt as annoying. Get the Woolwax with the black tint. Stuff lasts for years.

Aaron - where are some good beginner trails not far from the front range? Im replacing the rear springs Saturday and i want to break this XJ in

This time of year, most higher trails are still snowed in, but some closer ones are open. Switzerland near Nederland is a good starter trail provided you don't take the turn up Pennsylvania Gulch. Farther south, the Rainbow Falls OHV area is nice. Start with the free Colorado COTREX app and consider a subscription to either Trails Offroad or OnX Offroad. If you're on Facebook, the group "Colorado Off-Road Trails" is usually helpful and well moderated.

? What did you call the rust - olem

I was using two products by Rust-O-Leum: Rust Reformer in the aerosol can, which has tannic acid as its main ingredient for converting rust into a more stable material; and brushed-on black enamel paint, which creates a rubberized sealing coat.
