¡Felicitaciones! ¡Saludos afectuosos!

I love that you feel free to take a bit of time to be expressive over certain details as the music calls for it. Without doing too much, it seems to humanize the music more and allows the audience to better hear the character of ideas. You really captured the essence - thank you, Barbara!

Thank you so much for your dear words and for listening and understanding the natural rubato in his music- actually it exists in all music. It's similar to breathing and talking. This is just a preview of our masterclass video so I will keep posting. These sonatas are such amazing masterworks!!

Wow, I nearly dropped to the floor. Marvelous. Bravo, Barbara!! Her love for Prokofiev, among others, is simply manifested in this out-of-the-world performance. Thank you so much.

Many thanks for your comment. You're right- there is a lot going on in this great masterwork, and it should not be all about playing as loud and as fast as possible. Our goal as performers/pianists should be to try to create clarity from all this pianistic complexity. Then all of us can get closer to appreciating his genius and craftsmanship! And it's a constant challenge!!

The best version I have heard! Hope to meet you and maybe have a lesson on the Prokofiev Sonata No 5!

Many thanks! Have you looked at both versions of his Fifth Sonata? It's the only one of his sonatas that he revised. The differences are interesting and somehow I always prefer his earlier version!

@ I have only played the revised version, but the original one has some interesting parts! I loved your interpretation of it!

Didn’t know you had this channel! Love your playing and teaching on music. Have burned a hole through your record of Ginastera works.

Many thanks Bill. You should check out the video masterclass that I made about Ginastera- it's now posted on KZbin. Alberto Ginastera: "A Man of Latin America" - the first part includes interviews with him and his family and also Leonard Slatkin, Chick Corea and Keith Emerson of ELP and the second part includes masterclasses and performances of all 3 sonatas plus the early Argentine Danzas.
