You can get a similar result with any kind of pen as long as you apply the right pressure and speed, but because of a normal pen’s limits it’s honestly better to have these nibs to help speed up the process and have a more polished finish

Deleter would be a great one stop choice. Their Maru nib is a great option. Mark recommends the Speedball Hunt 108 nib. Wherever you find that online should sell a good cheap nib holder/handle to pick up to try it with. I, personally, like the Zebra G nib. That's a classic manga nib.

These are typically used with something thicker like bristol. Depending on your pressure and how much ink you apply, you can sometimes use the less expensive bristol but we don't recommend heavy use on anything lower quality than Strathmore'a 300 series paper. If you can go more expensive and plan to put it to heavy use, look into the 400 series bristol. Hope that helps!

So pretty much all inking is done traditionally, then only coloring is on the computer
@ProkoTV
@ProkoTV Жыл бұрын
It really depends on the creative team and the series. Some books will be all digital, traditional or a mix of both. There are different motivating factors but a traditionally done piece allows the artist to sell through a dealer and make another income off the job they did.
@6hypnone
@6hypnone Жыл бұрын
@@ProkoTV interesting observation. Couldn't the all digital pieces still be printed as art pieces just the same?
@ldt8904
@ldt8904 Жыл бұрын
@@6hypnonei would guess an inked piece would be more sought-after than a print. I would be interested to see how a plotter would handle a fountain pen. Create the artwork digitally, and have the plotter draw it out. Would need an additional axis of control, for the pressure. The correct rake and rotation of the pen would also be crucial. HP etc made some great plotting devices back in the 80s 90s. Some of them had interchangeable colour pens on a cassette that could be automatically swapped out! By tweaking the translation layer between the drawing software and the plotter's machine code, one could achieve interesting effects eg fills could be translated to rectangles of varying size and density acc to light and shade. One could even assign specific line-style to each colour, and then plot a black and white version where the colour information is represented by stroke variation. Don't mind me 😂
@6hypnone
@6hypnone Жыл бұрын
@@ldt8904 ha! Def not something I'd have thought of! Sounds interesting tho. Fur mysrif, I'd buy any art as long as it was done by the artist (no ai) be it all digital or manual. I have a poster of Mike Turners I love! Near his death. He actually got me into comics. Tho I've always been an artist :)
