Welcome Back to another video!
I've been gone for a week because I needed a replacement for my environment.
You can imagine how surprised I am now that proxmox is setup and running and a full HCI infrastructure across 3x DL380 G9 servers, with 100+ CPU cores, 300+ Gb Ram and almost 54Tb of space!
In this video I will install proxmox and ceph on the DL380 G9 file server, and join it to the compute cluster!
If you like the video, click the button and subscribe to help me out. I appreciate you!

Just a question : what type of RAID card do you use ? I want to go for the H240AR but I don't know if that is supported by ProxMox

@robbuurman1667 excellent question. Thats what I use. H240ar. Preferrably you wont be using hardware raid, esp if you use zfs as your filesystem.

hello, I just bought a sas ssd & have made it a logical drive + raid 0 But the problem is that when I install Proxmox 8 & run as usual, a problem appears when I reboot, with the message "bootable not found" Where do you think it went wrong? Thank You

Boot into the raid controller configuration (F11 and boot to smart array) Make sure the raid0 is flagged bootable

Most of the time the video is blurred maybe for security reasons but you could have made demo video before the actual work.

Hi! Thank you for the comment. Ill be remaking it by end of day today, and add a bit of extra info to the video. Please check out the channel a bit later and drop some feedback!

This would be much more useful if you hadn’t obfuscated a large chunk of the config 😢

The config are fairly plain. 2x e5-2650v4, 64Gb ram, 6x 900gb sas hdd 10k rpm, 2x 400Gb sas ssd Same across all servers

I don t know how you managed that, but your voice is like a whispering tone like Nazguls in LOTR. I have maximized both youtube's and pc 's audio and still i can barely hear what you are saying. Imagine when the advertisement will kick in with maxed out audio. PS At 7:00 where you setup the LACP aggregation you also need to mention that this feature needs to be supported by the switch as well else you are gonna loose connection and flood with syslog errors as well (well you kinda saying it when you mention that you are waiting for the 10g switch, but still needs the feature to be supported and not all switches support that feature ). Now about the naming scheme, there is no direct 20gbps connection only 2,5 / 5 / 10 / 25 .... If you have 2x10gbps ports that doesn t sum up to 20 (even if you know that, some others won t and they ll be confused wrongly thinking that this protocol adds speeds while it only balances the load up to 10g)

hey! Thank you for the points, I will note and implement that over the next videos. I don't know what happens to the volume, I think I have the source file buried somewhere I can rework it. this is the kind of trouble I run into when I don't script. as for the second part, you are right, your system will lose connectivity and go crazy with syslog errors. I will do a better job mentioning these small details (to me, but big to others) the one point I want to mention, you are absolutely correct 20gbps is not a standard offering, it is achieved by creating a bonded interface (of 2 or more interfaces) which works in parallel allowing it to send 20gbps (2 interfaces) worth of bandwidth instead of 10 gbps. You are 100% correct saying it needs a switch to support it! source: www.geeksforgeeks.org/link-aggregation-control-protocol/ the protocol you are thinking about is the load balancing, achieved by 2 roles. 1) the passive mode LACP protocol (it doesn't send keep alive LACPDU, it is always in standby) 2) balance xor technically they all support load balancing, but some in less obvious ways source: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Link_aggregation

This is a totally useless video. The jump from configuration to fully configured clusters totally lost me. I thought this was a ceph clustering install or config.

Hey! Where do you get lost? This video covers from no os on a server, to a cluster joined and essentially hypercoverged proxmox hypervisor instance. Ceph Installation and joining into a cluster is just (several clicks and minimal user input) that easy, which is exactly what the walkthrough is. You'll have to excuse the blurring, these are handshake hashes which are generated when ceph installs, and during a cluster join. yours will be different, but mine are blurred to avoid any potential intrusion. the ceph monitor network and the ceph network are essentially your proxmox management IP. is there a particular step where you get stuck? I would be more than happy to help you through it if you enconter any difficulties.
