+Conner Welch Same here...except no weight loss - the seamstress that "fitted" my dress fucked the whole thing up (took the seams out instead of in...wtf? does she even sew?) I had to run out to get those chicken cutlet boob things because everything in that area wasn't fitting. Oh but good thing she took it in around the knee for no reason so I felt like I was scooting around wearing a mermaid tail. What a beautiful dress...turned into a complete disaster.

For my prom my date called me the morning of and said he was going to a rave or something and wasn't gonna go, so I went by myself. About halfway through, the doors to the cafeteria opened (that's where our prom was) and my older brother walks in, dressed in his formal dress whites. He's in the Navy and I hadn't seen him in a few years and had no idea he was coming. Long story short, I went to prom with my older brother, but it was the best night of my life. Oh, and our after party was at this really cool place that one of the Junior's cousins worked at, and the cousin was able to get the owner to keep it open for us (it usually closed at 9) so we could play laser tag and glow-in-the-dark bowling. It was so much fun.

In Ireland you only have your prom (which we call 'the debs' like a debutante ball) after your final year of school. I finished in May and mine is next month (September). It's also nothing to do with the school. We get a debs committee and they organise everything either alone or through a company called 'Debs Ireland'. We go to a hotel (either in a limo or a bus that the committee hires if you don't want to get a limo) at around 7 then have dinner and after dinner the bar opens and you drink and dance or whatever until like 4 in the morning when breakfast is served and then you go home on a bus.

I didn't have a real prom. I lived on an island in Scotland, that didn't even have high street shops or McDonalds etc. So we didn't get the whole prom thing, we had a dance near Christmas every year called a Beanfeast (have no idea why it was called that) we all dressed up and stuff, but it wasn't like big prom dresses or anything, it was just like dresses we got out of shops (except mine because my Mum could make dresses) it was just like a dance really. The older year's ones were better because they got to put on comedy skits and make fun of the teachers (right in front of them too) then they would all go the an after party and get drunk, so if they had school the next day, they'd still be drunk. I never got to experience those ones as I left school earlier. But yeah, I would have loved an actual real prom with limos and big dresses etc

prom is so different here. I live in Alberta Canada, so we don't have homecoming or junior prom. Our grad dance isn't even in our dresses. We had a glow in the dark themed dance in a local bar (no alcohol) and then we have a full day of grad ceremonies and receptions. we wore our dresses and tuxes to the reception there was like a dinner and people gave speeches and there was musical performances. then after the reception there was either safe grad or dry grad. safe grad is where they take you out to the middle of no where to drink but the rules are stupid strict and if youre under 18 you have to have your own parent as a chaperone. i went to dry grad, there was no drinking but they set up a bunch of bouncy castles and games in this big building and set up a fire outside and it was super cool.

Where I'm from our prom is so much different than everyone else's! The girls wear short summer dresses and the boys wear buttons up with slacks and suspenders and a bowtie. Some would even wear khaki pants with a hawaiin shirt lol. Instead of corsages we did bouquets. Everyone wore bright colors, lol I'm not sure why my town is like that but it's pretty cool

We have a yr 10 and yr 12 Formal in Australia. It's pretty much the same thing. I've noticed proms are a more dressed down thing in the US though. People dress as though they are going to the golden globes or academy awards in many places here! We do the whole formal event, dinner, dj, photos etc and then someone holds an after party (in a paddock with the Roos if you're out bush) where everyone drinks (legal age is 18). My new bestie/crush needed a way of letting me know he liked me, so he asked me to got formal months in advance. By the time formal came around we were head over heeelssss. I got to have a pretty sweet night due to all those first love feels. On the night of the formal I also found some pictures of my bf and I at my fifth birthday party together. It turned out we had known each other at kindergarten as kids and he actually remembered me once I brought it up. I took that as good sign! Years later, almost half our twenties, cancer, illness, death, everything.. we're still together and best friends! I'm not really one for proms (all the fuss gets stressful) but I do feel like that I have a cute and cliched "dance" story.

my older sisters prom as a HUGE disaster. so first her dates limo was cancelled due to a miscommunication, then his car broke down, so they took the train, the train ran late so they were in a rush. then on the train they were quietly talking about going to the after party when the lady in Front of then snapped "can't you read? this is a quiet carriage so shut up!" then her date and the ladt got into an argument, the ladies daughter filmed it and said to them when they got off the train "I'm going to report you to your school" so then they went to prom and it was horrible, her date was drunk and was vomiting the whole night, only one of her friends showed up and they had a fight the day before so she couldn't talk to her. then my sister was called up for prom queen but before she could go up she was called to the principles office and she had a lecture about being friendly towards others and the school values, then The police got involved, her prom queen title was taken from her, she missed her entire prom and the after party, our parents were called in, and her night was ruined. the only good thing was that our mum traced the woman who started the fight down and got her fierd from her job and we all got to invite my sisters friends over and thier dates for a *private prom* so that was fun and in the end she was happy.

+Caro Campa Disappointment when something major goes wrong, like maybe your hair style. Discomfort if you didn't break in your shoes beforehand. The stench of your grad class crammed into one room with light food aromas. Too many pictures. A corny theme interpreted by your school's faculty. Hopefully some sweet memories brought to you by your date and friends and whatever you do as a group/couple before and after prom...probably something dramatic will happen...a fight, a breakup, spilled drinks on dresses....someone will get kicked out...there will be some "supergrads" (aka people who graduated 2-5 years earlier) either in the prom or hanging out in the parking lot for some reason...oh and maybe a complimentary breakfast deal only good between 7am and 9am the next morning.

In our town prom suck, you have to share it with 4 other schools. The teachers decide who you can go and dance with and you can't sit with your friends. It cost about 800kr (about over 80 dollars) and they throw you out if you decide to leave the person they made you go with because they're afraid of bullying. No pictures, no fun activities and the music is like some really bad Swedish pop songs. You literally pay 800kr for dry chicken with potatoes and soda.

My favorite prom moment is in Glee when Kurt runs off and Blaine brings him back and they dance. I had a pretty good prom experience. I just went alone but I'm still awesome so I was prom Queen runner up. There was no limo. Hung out with friends and people I didn't know. There's a pic of a line of girls I've seen fixing their hair at the same time which makes me laugh. I went home and watched Blonde ambition with my Step Dad and I'm ok with that. A part of me wished my Dad was there but I was ok being independent. Since learning that prom originated from debutante balls and is basically for the purpose of displaying people as objects I look back and find it slightly stupid to be honest but am glad for those who respect the right of passage.

went to three proms and hated them all. my junior year I hated my dress, my boyfriend at the time didn't want to dance so I sat at the table most of the time, and when I would dance with my girlfriends to our songs (every girl knows we do) he would get all mad at me. later that same year I went to my boyfriend's prom since he went to a different school and wore the same dress that I hated, we were only there for maybe 20 minutes because he said he didn't feel good, and his ex was trying to get his attention and talk to him the whole time we were there. my senior year my boyfriend wasn't going to be able to be there because he was going to be at basic so I said he could pick my dress out, it was worse than my dress the year before worst mistake ever, I went alone, I took my dress off after two songs and wore regular clothes for the rest of the night, no good music played so I didn't dance at all, I sat outside the doors all night talking to a friend about whether star wars or star trek was better. my school also had after prom where they would put us on a bus and take us somewhere and my junior year we went to this place called perfect gamez where you could bowl, play lazer tag, arcade games, eat food, and we had a hypnotist come. senior year were went to incredible pizza which was the same basic thing with a few differences and I actually got sick during it. after prom lasted till about 3 to 4am including bus ride so no one had crazy after prom parties, they just mainly went to Perkins or village inn for breakfast, but I just went home after.

we had this really popular local DJ at our prom who played nothing but club music. only 30 people were on the dance floor and if you wanted to request a song you had to tweet it to him. most of our phones didn't have service because we were in a big old church. he wouldn't even play top 40 music. one of my friends phones was working so she tweeted at him over and over that we wanted to hear ballroom blitz and come on Eileen. we would always mosh to ballroom blitz at all the other school dances. when we finally got him to play it I grabbed some of our friends and we all ran up to in front of the DJ where all the popular people were and pushed them out of the way. I had told my friends not to mosh because I wanted to make sure we would get another song. however the class President pushed me into my friends while I was skanking so they thought I was starting a pit. the DJ cut the music, made fun of us on the mic and told us to go away. I tried to jump on the stage. my boyfriend had to pull me off. my friend kept tweeting for him to play come on Eileen and when prom was almost over he played it and almost everyone ran to the dance floor. the 30 or so popular kids were yelling at us saying that we were ruining their prom. the DJ ended up pulling our friend who had be tweeting at him all night up on stage and calling her a bitch and threatened her. our principal (who looks like hank hill) was livid about the whole thing since the prom was almost nothing but ass shaking music and threats. prom ended early. and I almost got into another fight with this guy going out the door. lol. reading this back it sounds like a movie. lol. I went to two proms. In my town it was tradition to go to the local Denny's after prom for breakfast. At my first prom we tried to find an after party but there didn't seem to be any big parties. At the second prom we drove up in the hills after Denny's and warned all the people parked up there to make out or whatever that cops were right behind us.

I don't think anyone can top my prom story! My dad drove me and my boyfriend to prom. I walked in said hi to all the teachers and principal. Alll my "friends" acted as if they didn't know me. And I called my dad he picked us up. I was crying and then he dropped us off at IHOP and I cried the rest of the night I stayed for FIFTEEN MINUTES

My friends and I went bowling after Prom. Changed in the bowling alley bathroom, and went right to it. Sure, it wasn't an "after party" but it was fun to us.
