Thanks for the guide fam, I went from my usual strength build to a bleed build but none of them got me even close to 50% health on the boss. Then I tried this and it got me the kill after hours of trying 😭

Tactic I found for having an easier time with the phase transition: if you can manage to get him to change phases during a riposte you will stay in the same position after the cutscene. If you stay near the fog gate when this happens you can just run straight at him and avoid the holy attack entirely where he floats in the air and beams you

2:55 just run fast away from where ur standing and when u hear the first sound just dodge 2-3 times( just for sure) and u will survive this 😅

I just thought I'd mention this because I didn't see it in the video: if you miss his thrust attack for whatever reason, parrying almost immediately after will work on the follow-up attack.

Before I just wanted to say that I played through the entirety of the base game, including everything in the DLC with my Dex+Fai hybrid Blackflame build and the Godslayer Greatsword as main weapon. After encountering this bossfight howerver I put all of the smithing stones and ghost gloveworts I found to use. Brass Shield standard 25 & Vow of the Indomitable Godskin Stitcher bleed 25 & Blood Tax And I even went to Nokron to get the Mimic Tear, upgrading it from 0 to 10. (Also some medium armor that looks cool and eats what goes through the shield occasoinally.) I dont care what anyone says. The DLC up to that point is managable and even PEAK imo, excluding some very questionable boss designs, it also has Messmer and Midra who are 11/10 and easily make up for everything else, also keeping all of the new awesome areas in mind. But if a boss wants to mess around, he can look at my shield whilst eating bleed stacks that are easily 1/5th of his HP. If that guy doesnt play by the rules, why should I? Awesome video, thanks for the Idea.

Great job! To be fair, this was a very lucky phase 2. You got some good attacks. I do parry strat and it’s so much easier if he does certain attacks. Especially that one sword swing that’s a free parry:

Hero Landing can be partially avoided using Raptor of the Mist before he falls. At least he shouldn't oneshot.

There's a slow RH attack and a fast RH attack. The problem is that the stomp and fast RH look too similar

For both his comet strike and arena size AoE attacks simply run away from him. But seeing as the key to dodging most of his attacks is to stay close and you apparently figured that out without watching a guide it's clear that running away isnt in your nature ;) Well done! I'll study these parry frames closely. Infact I've found that some of his attacks miss me altogether if I stand too close to the front of him. Not even a partial parry...

@@PrinceOf34 Using your guide I was able to land three parrys and secure one reposte... But I decided to change tact and go for a little thrusting sword with light roll... That got the job done for me but really happy I atleast know how to parry some of his attacks and can demonstrate :)

No, but this shield will increase atk & def when you get low health. So in some case, I can survive with 1HP 😹

You can also use the Brass shield since it fully blocks physical attacks fully (100 physical guard) and doesnt require any possible streangth or endurance levels. Allthough I would generally use this with the Green Turtle Talisman for stamina similarly the Eardtrees Favor is also valueable. I used both since it made it easier to play around my rather limited ammount of stamina. Furthermore Vow of the Indomitable is an ash of war for shields that gives I-frames upon cast, making it very easy to dodge most of his arena nukes. Be carefully if you want to use barrier shield ash of war since it runs out eventually.. ..gl out there!
