Turning down St Mirren was a strange move. Much bigger club than Arbroath, and would have been favourites to win the Championship no doubt
@win-nufc15 сағат бұрын
That’s exactly what I thought. Probably would of gave him a similar wage too and it’s only about 20 minutes away from Glasgow as well

St Mirren are a decent sized club. New stadium, decent crowd. Would have been interested to see their offer.
@AnishVarma-m1f20 сағат бұрын

Turning down almost triple the salary. Questionable decision
@Billymortzz14 сағат бұрын
Think about it realistically. Triple the salary, but in a different country and far away from his family at a club where half the players work at Morrisons on a weekday. OR stay close to family, at a club where he’s loved with all the money he could want.. he’ll get a pay rise to around that soon enough it’s just about patience. He’s earning more than enough to live off at brackley
@MackeyD313 сағат бұрын
@Billymortzz The difference between 50k and 150k is a pretty huge lifestyle change. Also, the country change is England to Scotland. That is not particularly far, and isnt exactly coming with a big culture shock. Also, even though the standard is lower, Arboroath is still a fully professional team, so its not like going back to non league.
@Billymortzz13 сағат бұрын
@ Englands 6th tier is better than scotlands 2nd tier…
@ThreeRunHomer12 сағат бұрын
@Billymortzz not in real life, but FM hypes up everything in England.
@Billymortzz12 сағат бұрын
@ trust me mate, as someone who follows a 6th tier English club home and away we would easily beat nearly every single Scottish championship team bar the top 3 maybe. The team he was going too was not a top 3 club
@Chalks3820 сағат бұрын
Wow almost 3x the wages and much cheaper living in Scotland. In real life money talks
@nsegura318 сағат бұрын
I feel like the tycoon could give Kev a 1M in wage budget, and Kev will still be way over budget and having to fill holes in the team with loan players 😂
@DM-vo2ke13 сағат бұрын
😂 So true. He did a bit when they announced some of the financial changes in FM24 and was very excited about it. Don't get why because if they actually made it vaguely hard to make money and punished you for spending it badly, Kev would lost the plot. £5.5k a week in L2 on a very average CB is quality
@FraseThatPlays19 сағат бұрын
I'm a Scotsman living in England and I wouldn't have taken the Arbroath job either but I'd have done the St Mirren interview. You know your chairman is a tycoon and he has invested, so your own wages will go up next contract negotiation. The cynic in me has to mention that Arbroath and a SPFL badge in a thumbnail isn't going to get as many views!! 😂
@dannydude888619 сағат бұрын
Kev "we have 4 left backs, so we don't need anyone there" Signs 2 left backs. Think I know how you blew that wage budget mate 😅
@StarbornQM18 сағат бұрын

@FalseCredential20 сағат бұрын
You should definitely request a new contract due to all of the interest.
@andrewwood758020 сағат бұрын
This time the right decision. Yes, it's lots more money at Arbroath but the standard of football is way lower and the club lacks the resources to build. And as the "tycoon" has finally opened his cheque book - staying put is the right call.
@tombardsley308119 сағат бұрын
Kev has said plenty of times he'd move clubs for more money even if the league was less quality. He moved from the championship to the spl in fm17 for double the salary. It wasn't to Rangers or Celtic. It was to Hamilton!
@jamesdrylie558419 сағат бұрын
The chairman should definitely bump the transfer budget. I had a tycoon once give me a 2.5M transfer budget. I promptly spent that on two players so I asked him to give me more. 25.4M was provided.
@ThreeRunHomer19 сағат бұрын
We all knew he’d sign strikers and wingers. 😄

i think in football manager terms it makes no sense to move but in terms of the money our getting nearly 2.5 times more money and even if u get sacked u get a pay off.

@tombardsley308120 сағат бұрын
Spoilers This is a bit silly with your job changes now when you were offered more transfer budget, wage budget and the same salary in a higher reputation league in league one and turned it down because Brackley offered the same salary. But now turning down a club that’s offering over 2.5 times the salary because the transfer/wage budget isn’t as large, then goes against the reasons you turned Lincoln down.
@itsTiagoSilva19 сағат бұрын
but the move was to arguably a worse league. and the team was expecting to figth against relegation, not for promotion
@crowroadaw14 сағат бұрын
Arbroath was a lot more money for Kev, but a much weaker club overall. I think staying was the right choice, there. Not even *talking* to St Mirren, though, seems bonkers. Could have always said no if it didn't measure up.

@MattJames195813 сағат бұрын
St Mirren are a much bigger club than Arbroath/Brackley, would have been interesting to see their offer. Scotland quite a nice country to manage in too for a journeyman, relatively easy to get European money
@doctorstormchaser11 сағат бұрын
Declining Arbroath was indeed controversial, but the right call. But I think you should have at least taken the St. Mirren interview to see what they would have had - as I expect they'd have been the favourites for promotion. But keen to see the next chapter with Brackley.
@Adwin198420 сағат бұрын
A tricky one, that. A big payrise on offer, but to a division which I think can still have semi-professional teams. But after the chairman has flashed some cash, perhaps time to go back and ask for a new contract?
@tombardsley308120 сағат бұрын
Abroath were professional which in that scenario would have given Kev an advantage
@Adwin198420 сағат бұрын
@tombardsley3081 very true. Perhaps it comes down to "do I want to move to Scotland?"
@AndySport16 сағат бұрын
I don’t think you made the “wrong” decision with Arbroath, but I think I would take the pay rise, personally. That’s a huge wage increase. *Very* difficult decision though

Arbroath is a beautiful part of the world. Just saying.....
@steveburton890418 сағат бұрын
Right decision this time, despite the increased salary. It would have been interesting to see the St.Mirren offer as a far more established Scottish club. That could have been the one

Financial Fair Play The CFRU has remit over all the EFL’s Financial Fair Play Rules which are different depending on which Division a Club is in: Championship Clubs follow Profitability and Sustainability (“P&S”) Rules which dictate what losses Clubs are permitted to incur over a rolling three-year period. League One and League Two Clubs follow the Salary Cost Management Protocol (“SCMP”) These state that Clubs can only spend a fixed percentage of its revenue on player wages etc. This limit can also be added to or impacted by equity injections or net transfer spend. So SI did the Wage cap correctly
@BLS54327 сағат бұрын
In the EFL L1/L2- as a Birmingham fan new to the rules. I think you can spend 60% of your overall income on wages BUT that income can be inflated by cash injections/ gifts from the chairman.
@tombardsley30813 сағат бұрын
I believe Birmingham are exempt initially from the rules as a newly relegated side
