This song made me cry when I was in high school hoping for a girlfriend. It now makes me cry, 46 years later, when I reminisce about my 29-year marriage that ended in an unwanted divorce. If I live to be 92, there will probably be a new reason to cry when I hear this. And I'm okay with that.

Most of us that grew up with these songs heard them on scratchy AM radio bands and eventually the wonder of 8 track tape where we could play them at will. The lucky few got to hear it live. What a treat with todays technology; to hear it as it was meant to be heard in all its richness.

After40 years of concerts, it was incredibly fantastic to take my wife and kids!!! Have seen them all but hadn't seen ELO since 1977 when I saw Zeppelin as well. I love how Jeff picked up where the BEATLES left off in 1970. The orchestra just makes it like Magical Mystery Tour all over again!!!

I love so much that ELO ever did, but this song remains their greatest. This is a very nice live version, but there's something so poignant about the studio version with the phone ringing and Jeff's vocals being treated to make it sound as if he is literally singing over a phone line.

Kylie Pollert Zoom tour preview concert 2001. Filmed at cbs television city in Hollywood. Assembled a great band but tour was canceled due to 9/11 and Jeff split up the band and tour. His then girlfriend Rosie Vela was on the background vocals. They were pretty damn good!

One of those songs that lasts the passages of time ,My mother passed away A month ago 28th of April 2023 at age 77 that was all we had for years was telephone conversations and the odd Skype video, she was shy being old and frail and over weight so the phone was best ,she and I had 1500 kms between us, so seeing in person wasn't easy, love you Mom this song will always help me remember.
