I made $9.00 an hour as an EMT-I. I worked the same schedule as the firefighters. 24 hours on and 48 hours off. Many of us were struggling just to keep food on the table and provide homes for our families. Ridiculous pay to put your own life on the line to save others. I wasn't in it for the pay, but I still needing to take care of my family. Hard business to be in. People don't think about police, fire, or Emergency Medical people until they need them.

Nicole Thompson first of all, let me say from the bottom of my heart, you are appreciated. Secondly, I can completely relate. I've worked in Healthcare for 15 years, specifically Home Health for 9 years. We get crumbs for hard work, work that many people won't do. With all that being said, I feel like the reason we're paid like we are is, partly, because most of the money in healthcare is distributed among the higher up, more prestigious positions: pharmaceutical companies, hospitals, Doctors & specialists, and so on. With so much of money being held at the top, not much is left once it trickles down. And I think it's the same in any industry. Here's the fucked up part about it all; if we all refused to work for this pay, they would _have_ to pay us more. We are the wheels that make this economy roll. But most people that work our positions know how badly we are needed, and we know that if we don't work, people suffer. It's such a shitty situation to be in, because we suffer more than people know. But what can we do? My personal feelings on what beauty influencers make is surprisingly positive. These people have all come from nothing, and found a way to make this free market work in their favor. I can't be mad at them for that, because that's what the American Dream is all about. I do feel like this purging of sorts in the beauty community is not only healthy, but inevitable. Manny, Laura, Jaclyn and the rest almost had like a monopoly on the beauty community, not letting anyone else rise to their merit. This movement sort of makes room for other influencers to grow.

I have sacrificed my family........my weekends, my holidays, so much.....and still don't make nearly enough to at least take my family on a yearly vacation. Right now we cover the bills. Time to study law of attraction and receive an at home job and business because I sacrafised alot. Time for me family to have me back.

Melissa Burwell I agree you don’t always have to really believe in a product and use it to get paid to sponsor a product that’s also how things have been working for a long time, the regular actors not talking celebrities aren’t using those products and believe in them either they are ads or commercials for a reason. I feel like for people to just assume and believe every influencer really likes and really uses and really believes in everything they promote is naive. If they want to be upset about that that’s not their problem they’re laughing all the way to the bank. I’m not offended if someone I watch promotes something that maybe they don’t really love it shouldn’t be assumed that they’re promoting it because they like it no they could be promoting it because money talks honey and I doubt the celebs are using maybelline or boxed dye or aveeno when they can drop millions on really nice expensive makeup artists and procedures and hair stylists in major cities lol don’t get it twisted people.

The problem is people think you can hide your inner world but everything you are truly about will eventually manifest externally. I've never watch any of these creators, and now I see why. We are energetic beings that's why I'm very discipline in choosing the energy I put out mentally, emotionally and physically. I don’t understand why people are so shocked. It’s marketing/advertising. Arguably the biggest, most important part of a business. It’s just grown over time into social media. And the “best” or biggest ones will make the most. Just like People magazine probably charged and made more than a smaller magazine. These days on youtube you never really get anyone who has been as open and honest like you. Sara Lynn exactly, I think what she did and said was absolutely unacceptable and that apology was Bullshit but she doesn’t deserve death threats on her family. She also shouldn’t be the only one getting the punishment. Manny for sure needs to be in this heat way more. Like... teachers have to buy their own fucking pencils, also I watched a doc. On military families sending out bullet proof vests because they're only supplied with one and also ship out care packages of basic necessities! Soooo wtf?! I REALLY wanted to make KZbin videos for about 4 or 5 years now and the closer I get to doing it I see drama like this and I'm like woah... do I really wanna open myself up to all of this?? I'm a stay at home mom now living on 1 income due to me having fibro as well as an auto immune disorder and I'm always so sick that I've had to stop working and so I had thought well hey! here's my chance to do what I've BEEN wanting to do cause makeup is a passion of mine.. and frankly I've lost basically all my friends since my health started going down hill and it'd just be nice to connect with other pple, so I'm still on the fence about it. The reason influencers are making more then first responders an army vets....is bc of us. If we didn't purchase the products influencer mention. Advertiser's wouldn't have our initial money of purchases, to go back into advertising. Nothing wrong with that an YES first responders need more money.. but how can we say, "influencer's shouldn't get more then them" When we are the ones funding that extra coin their way?

If you are going to complain about influencers, sports, entertainment that keeps us entertained an we have no issue funding our hard earned money into... We can't possibly expect to complain about them making more then our vets etc. These people are being paid off of our own paychecks, pretty much. If we all took our money an kept it out of entertainment, put it in a box to be added into vets EMTs etc paychecks... They would make more then entertainment. That's prob never gonna happen, but i also know that's why they get paid more..It's not like someone is saying "entertainment deserves more.. let's make sure they get paid more"

I completely agree with the pay raise of first responders, fire fighters, even Teacher's. My boyfriend is a firefighter and there are always conversations about those issues. It's just upsetting to know that these people go out on calls to save strangers and put their life on the line. I have nothing against influencers who make a lot of money off of KZbin, but it does bother me when my boyfriend is going out on calls and not make as much as these influencers.

New subscriber here! ❤️ In all honesty, I know how it feels to feel the backlash from people I loved and from strangers. Years ago I did some effed up things and yeah, it hurt hearing people bash me but I had to tackle MY ISSUES on firsthand and realize what I did wrong and fix it. So I do feel for Laura and the hate she’s getting because it does suck but at the same time I really hope she learns from her past. Everyone makes mistakes but she handled her apology very badly and that’s why she is receiving so much backlash. That word retweet kept getting thrown around 🤦🏻‍♀️ If she would’ve just owned up to her BS I’m sure she would eventually be forgiven but you can only get forgiveness if you’re truly sorry. Actions speak louder than words. I’m the firm believer that what you put into this world, whether good or bad, comes back to you 10 times. Trust me when I say I’ve seen it firsthand the good and bad karma. Thank you for your insight! It is crazy how much money beauty gurus receive just for one sponsored video. Shew .... but that’s the business. I like Tati for that exact reason. She mentions products she likes and she’s not even sponsored. That’s what I like to see. I’m not downing anyone who does sponsored videos either, get your money!
