Many things, yes, but not everything. I dare any producer or musician on the planet to make James Bond themes sound better in metal...or Taemin's songs. He basically has a legendary status in South Korea, and is considered the "Michael Jackson of K-pop". It sounds very cliche, but listen to 10 seconds from the choruses of 'WANT' or 'Criminal', the Jacko influence is very intense, especially when you see him dance.

I'm a Metalhead, had a band for years and now I'm a K-Pop DJ too. Flipping Le Sserafim to metal was freaking awesome. I have the strong feeling a lot of metalheads like some K-Pop songs because K-Pop blends so many genres together, sometimes in one song. It's not the four chords standard thing what you expect from pop. I read some comments about DREAMCATCHER. They are an awesome rock/metal K-Pop Group. You also should listen to the new (G)I-DLE song "Queencard" it has Pop-Punk vibes.

I don't think I've ever heard any K Pop before is it not as repetitive as American Pop? I'm not a musician so I could be wrong but it seems like turning Pop into Metal wouldn't be too bad since it's such a simple and repetitive genre
@Iyashikei-t4u Жыл бұрын
@@Werewolf914honestly the only requirement to make a metal version is that the song itself is good. K-pop, and pop in general, hires the best songwriters to write songs for their singers. But yes, K-pop does sound different from American and British pop. It's just as repetitive, just with a different sound. Same thing with metal, really.
@burnout247iw Жыл бұрын
@@Werewolf914 Imo, depends. There's lots of kpop that sounds the same, but there are others that stand out amongst their market. Kpop uses different pulses and melodic structures than straightforward metal and sometimes their chord progressions get pretty quirky (case in point: Newjeans' "Attention", Red Velvet's "Birthday", for example). It may be easy to just whack on a typical metal riff on a kpop track and call it a day; it's another to think out of box and make it stand out, I feel.

Its worth noting that the founder of Kpop and mentor to BTS, Seo Taiji, is a metalhead. He played in a metal band before forming the 1st hugely popular Kpop group "Seo Taiji and Boys" who themselves dabbled with metal elements on a few songs (a popular example being Classroom idea, which BTS has covered live). Years later he reinvented himself and did a straight up nu metal album "Ultramania" that became his best selling as a solo artist

@@TESLACE1337Yes it’s true he’s started Kpop and pretty much introduced South Korea to hip hop. @@TESLACE1337 Josh Freece went from drumming for Suicidal Tendencies to playing on 2x Seo Taiji albums in the mid 90s. Seo Taiji is a HUGE foundation for what Kpop grew into. And, of course, the current reigning classic example of rock/metal mixed with kpop, Dreamcatcher, are a group assembled by a CEO who made his start back in the 90s by bringing X-Japan to Korea for a concert.
