Yow Trevor, that is one impressive video and thanks for making it for us. The tow-between seed hopper makes sense as the soil behind it is loosened up by the drill shanks which makes it easier for the new shoots of the crop to emerge. I dont mean to be negative here but I'm wondering if that Quad could pull a wider planter/seeder/drill on those hills. Wide span machinery behind a tractor using most of the horses up the hills switches me on. Nothing beats a good sounding growl from an engine under load.

Yeah, next step i i need to send microphones out into the field. They sound good for sute

Great video. Have you looked into any kind of water management program for the land. I have a good friend who is a specialist in that field. He has lots of results and I thought of you from last years video. It goes on with a sprayer.

Oh really? No we haven't done anything about water management. What is it they apply.

Anhydrous can be applied at the same time as seeding? I always see corn farmer videos doing it with a toolbar. Those are some epic drone shots!
@TrevorStruthers10 ай бұрын
Yeah, as long as it stays away from the seed. There are 6 inch wide shanks where the seed comes out the side and fertilizer between.

wow, great overview and thanks for this! My wife and I noticed there are no water apparatus or irrigation sloughs for the fields. How are the crops watered throughout the summer?
@TrevorStruthers8 ай бұрын
By early to mid July this field should be ready to be harvested. Some harvests can last up to two months and during that time we hope it doesn’t rain and it normally doesn’t. This is all dryland wheat and legumes, so its not irrigated but it is awfully dry and the yields are dependent upon the weather.

@@TrevorStruthers Mahalo for getting back to me. Amazing how the roots chase the water table. This year is definitely a drought year. Seeing how low Lake Keechelus is this season is very concerning. I hope y'all have a good yield and the rotating crops will be ok. What will be next for planting?

How does direct seeding work in the Palouse? Thanks😊
@TrevorStruthers5 ай бұрын
Nearly everyone does what we call no till, I explained it in another response. They arent just disk openers, there is cultivator shanks that lift the soil slightly but there is minimal disturbance to the soil compared to traditional rod weeding and disking and all that.
