Dude ! You are the best! Thank you so much for showing all that fumbling around you did around the 6:00 mark, I’d have had to walk away to breathe… most folks would have edited that part out. I’m sure a seasoned pro would cringe at watching this… I’m no pro, this was fuckin awesome man! Thanks hunter, love the channel

Nicely done. I’ll be trying my hand at some grafting this year, mainly seedlings onto Pereskiopsis. Keep us updated on these Steno grafts 👍🏻 Cheers for sharing with us. Happy growing 🌵☀️🌼🏜

Cool vid man. I'm going through all your stuff; you work hard and they're incredible quality. More variety of rubber bands helps for different situations; and a spray bottle with distilled water for accidents helps so you don't have to re cut if scion gets dirty. I like to graft on a crate with a slab of countertop stone so your work station is up higher and you can make straighter cuts. The ultimate key to success is making sure your stock is well pumped up and hard, so soaking the night before in fertilizer helps.

what I usually do isI put a tape on it first (criss-cross) then put the rubberband right after, so the scion won't slip.

Like a chef! 😉 Well done. 👍🏼 Been practicing on grafting too. Where do you source your pereskiopsis root stocks? Can’t find them here in Vegas.

I'm stuck in that I don't see the point in grafting. The point to me would be to graft a slow growing plant on a fast growing stock the then when you have a specimine size plant of the slower going sion get it to start growing on it's own roots, but it seems like nobody attempts to get the the sion back on it own roots? Is that not possible?

Fold-up some Saran wrap a couple layers stretch it down over put a rubber band on it or some tape

What about putting the rubber band over the top Cactus first since it's much easier to hold with your hand?

maybe use a smaller knife. That was interesting work.

A sharper blade is crucial as well. Clean cuts, no sawing motions.

i thought cutting the edges on the stock in grafting was particularly for negating competitive pups from forming
@alexvargas4668 Жыл бұрын
It's to prevent the skin from pushing the scion off, when the cut heals the outside skin will often curl upwards and if you don't have enough room it will push the scion off the graft.

Great video. How will those grafts grow? Will it offshoot, just get bigger? I have an urge to graft but don't know why!
@Toddis3 жыл бұрын
I've always just made sure to overlap the vascular rings when grafting I've never tried putting the top on perpendicular to the stock like that one you did How did it turn out?

My understanding of it is so that you can speed up the growth of a normally slow growing plant. People even graft seedlings on those reaaaally thin cacti as well (I forget the name of it)

So how long before it roots? Then do you pull it off and put in a different pot after it roots?

Someone should do a grafting inspired by the movie 'The Human Centipede'.
