I've had huge success rooting them in soil, the key is putting them in a humidity box (I use a clear tote and clear lid), put a glass of water in there to keep the humidity up. My water propogation has been sitting in water for two weeks and no roots still, the soil cuttings have roots already :). Just don't forget to air them out once a day so it doesn't get modly.

You air out soil propagation? Or water? Thanks in advance!

Mine is getting leggy very quickly but i decided to let it grow and now she has purple flowers blooming !

Cut the flowers! The rest of the plant may die. I’ve had 2 recent on mine and cut em off and now they’re pushing out tons of new growth. Flowers suck all the energy 🤗

@@Thetinyfit I think you're right, i did cut the flowers and already see new growth even though i can see that the plant seems to be producing new flowers again... it has a height of ~22cm and it is nicely tutored, thanks for your advice !

Beginner Plant Mom I just cut the flower off. I think you can cut more, but I just usually but the flower and the rest of the plant puts out a lot more growth at that point.
@JLSIR-hl9dc4 жыл бұрын
@@beginnerplantmom9268 I've took off the flowers only, when the flower are big enough to be touched (before blooming) without causing any harm to the stems. thanks to my skinny fingers tips lol. (the faster you take em off, better it is for the plant i guess ??)

How did they do once planted? I repotted a polka dot plant, but it’s so darn leggy, I want to propagate and make it bushy.

Thank you for this video! I’m currently trying to propagate some polka dot plants and couldn’t really find a video that explained things well enough! Also I was getting slightly discouraged because I did find one video and it had long roots after one week! I thought I must have been doing something wrong because it’s been almost a week and there hasn’t been any crazy changes but the plants still look healthy! I suppose i just need to be more patient! Thank you so much!! Also quick question when did you start to see roots?

did you add anything to your water? I've had mine it RO water for several... 8? weeks and have NO roots...
@hales65473 жыл бұрын
. Ive heard u should do like a 1-2 inch cutting on the small side. I did that and removed all but the top leaves so roots are it's focus not foliage. I took 2 cuttings and are both doing really well and the roots are longer every day. I've never ever propogated before but did bad with my succulents so I'm trying to do those too. I wasn't sure when to plant. The roots aren't huge but they are each about 1 inch root almost if not. Can I plant any time? And how u care for it while it is establishing Itself?

What is the status on the soil propagated cutting?

Growing root from water media is easy, the challenge is when you move it to soil media. I have no luck so far. Do you have any suggestion?

@@beginnerplantmom9268 Thanks for your reply. I've tried with roses, great root growth in water but died when transfered to soil. Polka dot is on my list within few weeks. I was using regular potting mix. Do you keep it indoor/outdoor/patio? It's now summer in here.

Curious how your polka dot propagations are doing. Mine is struggling. What is your mixture for soil for them??. Any advice. Thanks for the info.
