Propane Explosion in Buffalo

What I saw there I will never forget.
At 20:23 hours, on December 27, 1983 the Buffalo Fire Department responded to a reported propane leak in a four-story warehouse at this corner of North Division and Grosvenor streets (46 Grosvenor St). What happened next shook the city, literally... I went there that night... This is what I remember.

I was at a friends house in Kenmore around Colvin and Highland., about 7 miles away. We felt the walls shake from the explosion. Good job on the story! So far, your's is the first and only documentary on the explosion, I wish more KZbinrs would do a video on this story.

1st alarm assignment was Eng 32 1 3 Ladd 5 2 Resc1 B43. Engine 32 1 and Ladder 5 were on location when it exploded. Ladd 2 got hung up on a snow bank a couple blocks away and called in the explosion. Eng 32 got crushed Ladder 5 got tossed across the street which u saw on video Rescue 1 got lucky they were going under a viaduct at the time of the Explosion. Battalion Chief B43 supple got severly injured but ran the scene for about 5-10 mins with a stake in his neck. Most guys of Ladder 5 were thrown and hit Eng 32 with Rubble on top of them and were found immediatly and 1 member of Ladd 5 a lil ways away from the group. Thank you for that history lesson! I was just a young boy when that happened. Lived here all my life and this is literally the 1st time I've heard of it.

Thanks for the comment. I was maybe 20 at the time and was working as an orderly in the ER. I went there and saw it after my shift and will never forget it.

Good video brother I was born and raised in buffalo I still live her my father was a EMT he worked that fire he said it was just horrible he ended up having nightmares it effected him greatly thank you for the video

Thank you for the comment. I was studying to be an EMT at the time and that is why I was working at the Columbus ER that night.

@forgottenworld.... EXCELLENT JOB ! My dad ( Captain Larry Sullivan) was working his last shift that night out of Engine 1. He was severely injured and taken to Sheehan. Your video was very insightful and correct
