This is marvelous mix. One belter after the other. 1993 was my favorite year for UK breakbeat music. Not too early hardcore and not too jungle. It was the year of DARKSIDE, so breakbeat hardcore music just reached its peak in 1993. Jay you know the score!! Thank you for this fire set!!! ;)

Wicked mix mate. How you getting on with the digital pitch ? I was reading on a forum that the new digital turntables are better for scratching and not mixing because they’re harder to get that perfected tempo match compared to the old skool technics with analog pitch. Whats your views on it mate ?

Full disclaimer I work for the company that makes these :) Personally I love them and I mostly use them for mixing and find them more rugged and stable that with DVS vinyl (no needle!). For pitch adjustments I have the lowest setting on Serato so you get more movement on the pitch fader for finer adjustments. For playing digital I'd always choose these first over vinyl DVS, they feel exactly the same as a turntable but have all the befits of the digital world. Hope that helps.

@@JayCunning thanks for feedback mate 👍🏼 I was indecisive whether to go for the scratch mk2 or the dj mk2 but after speaking to a few people they recommended the dj mk2 for mixing and bit of scratching old skool hardcore. I did have the weight set at 3.5g but went to 4g as ortofon recommend. but I’m worried its going to wear my records. Would you recommend going back to 3.5g ? I bought the pioneer plx 1000’s about 5 years back and they’ve been great to be fair. The only thing im not fussed on is the digital pitch though. I always find you end up fighting with the tempo even when its bang on.

93? By 93 we were Six years into the Rave Scene and the Dark hardcore was being replaced with this commercial crap jungle had a lot to do with the downturn on the True Rave Scene.

We were Responsible For Wonderland club, club UK busby's Astoria. Sterns. Roller express Fantazia zen telepahy Yikes is where it all began. We were Green apple FM Red eye FM Touchdown FM and more. You need to spend a day or two with my best mate in his 50's now but no one on this earth knows dark hardcore as he does. I Know all the Big names from back then and some not so big. You have to be careful with rave tunes from the 93 era so many tuned used the same industry-standard breakbeats they clashed when mixed so the right tune selection to maintain a steady crowd of headbangers is to be thought about . .
