After watching Mikes'videos I have learned a lot about rinnai tankless water heaters. It turns out after completing my installation of my water heater. model. RUCS75i I was getting a 25 code because I missed drain pipe so my water was hot for a few minutes or less then cold, I emailed Mike and almost instantly he replied with the correct answer to solve the problem, so I did it and now I can enjoy constant hot water in the entire house. Mike, your videos are very informative and really made my DIY install (RUR199e) a breeze. I had a gas company run my gas line and I ran the electrical for an outlet and plumbed in the water lines (yes, I pulled permits and had a code inspection!). A key point is to bleed the gas line and water lines BEFORE powering on the unit. I did that, very well, I thought; but, I got a code 63 on the first run. I shut down the unit, burped the pressure relief and it fired right up on the second go. All of your instructions are logical and well-thought-out. Thank you for making the videos!!!

This was an exact replacement for the old one that lasted about 10 years. kzbin.infoUgkx7yWIKcrbA9KMHkGSfcgxW2lsjHT6B8Sh The top of my mitigation tube by my roofline was just a 90 elbow which allowed too much debris to fall down into the fan, eventually ruining it. Without this issue, I bet it would have kept running another 10 years. When I replaced this fan, I added an extra elbow joint so the top tube now it does a 180, which should solve that problem. The radon guys around here wanted to charge me a $300 diagnostic fee, then parts/labor (probably close to $600 total). I installed this all by myself in about an hour for the cost of the fan; it would probably be even easier/faster with two people. FYI the manufacturer's warranty greatly differs depending on whether you install it yourself (1 yr warranty) or have a licensed installer do it (10 yrs).

Mike, Could you talk a little about how to go about installing a dedicated return line system. Does it need to run to the furtherest hot water faucet in the house, even if we rarely use the sink in that part of the house or can it run to the furtherest facet that you want hot water to be available? Would PEX be a good choice for the dedicated return line? How about check valves? Do you use more than one and if so where? Thank you.

Mike is supposedly a good factory trained tech. He should know what he is doing. I like the fact that it comes with the bypass valve. I've always used Navien tankless heaters. Navien does have all stainless steel heat exchangers. Which I like better than any other. Stainless steel doesn't corrode out like the Copper heat exchangers. Nice install job. Did he do it? I dont care for 2 things. 1. The gas line coming down the wall is really croocked. I would have used rigid steel pipe coming down the wall. I never expose flex gas lines. 2. At the bottom of this gas line. Is where I would have put my drip leg. He has one over under the tankless. I just think it would catch more under the line coming down the wall.

vbbartlett so 14 plus feet, how man elbows because every elbow is equivalent to 5 feet of pipe. It would be perfect if the vent could be as straight as possible. Mike

The run of pipe would go up and turn 90 deg at the ceiling and to 10ft directly out above the sill plate. At worst it would have on additional 45 deg to go out at a different location. (only because the furnace intakes might be too close to where I hoped it would exit.) I believe code says I have to be 5' from the two air vents for the util room.

If the condensate drain is not installed and the unit "codes out" what happens next?
@TheBuddylab6 жыл бұрын
Gary Smith the unit will not work until you drain the condensate trap. It’s very important to install the drain, you don’t want condensate backing into the unit.

I have seen three in the last week here as a home inspector in Mississippi. It's CRAZY - wondering what the plumbers are smoking down here!

Any concern that the exhaust vent is lass than 4 feet from that door, as required per the specs?

Hi Mike. What you can tell me about rinnai E85SRN?
@stanwerner74844 жыл бұрын
Rinnai or AO Smith --which do you prefer or recommend for a "Tank less" application?

Mike, I have a question the over pressure valve. Can it be just lowered to the ground like you have it or does it need to go some where outside?
@TheBuddylab6 жыл бұрын
Raul Cruz the relief pipe can go to the ground about 4” off it.

Florida doesn't make you vent at least 36" from a opening window or door? Clean install by the way, we do a lot of these in Colorado.

When i see pvc and csst which is not sufficient to run a tankless. Its actually in the instructions. The manufacturers say noise”but really they dont want it because it fucks hp the fuel air mixture. Also that bypass valve you are using is a peice of shjt. The best ones are 100 bucks and are thermactic. Like a thermostat in a car. Also no check valve? Siphoning can happen depending on the system if you dont have one at the service balve of the recirc.

Don’t you need flex lines to connect to the water heater
@edwardryu79266 жыл бұрын
Mike, thank you for all posting. I am trying to install tankless heater and I see other videos and they used copper pipe for water line, but you used PVC(I am guessing)? what is benefit to use PVC and which is better option to use? If PVC is better, what kind of PVC pipe should I use specifically? Thank you,
