The second part of your comment is correct, the first part isn't. Yes he has people working on the tank, but he definitely knows what's going on. He makes the decisions, He is definitely a hobbiest.

Actually at first when I heard about his reef tank, I thought he was just some ultra rich dude that is buying what we all want. However, after watching his blogs and going through his Instagram pretty thoroughly, I would have to disagree politely. If I was designing a wreath for someone with a lot of money, who is not a hobbyist I would just do lots and lots of soft corals, and sprung stunner, cap etc but his smaller tanks and even this one has lots of specifically sourced, corals and fish that only a hobbyist would appreciate past just how they look

He's a hobbyist - he had reefs since childhood. He just has enough money to pay others to do all the work for him. Nothing wrong with that. If you see his mission statement his ultimate goal is to educate and help the reefs.
