When I drove mixer truck we use scotch brite pads to scrub chutes and drum rings. Our wash downs were pretty easy because we would spray diesel fuel every other load onto the area concrete would splash. The company I drove for never got on us for keeping our mixer truck clean. We had a fleet of 90 mixers at one time. Great bunch of guy they were like family.

That was a good washdown. Ignore the haters and take your time to do it right. We get paid by the hour. And no manager is going to accept that you are too busy to keep your truck clean.

Good job of giving someone not familiar with the industry a perspective of what is involved with a pump job and wash down onsite.

After your done up top stop the drum and notice how the water doesn't splash past the ring when your cleaning the chute, slobber boot...etc just a tip from a person who takes that pride in keeping their truck clean. I drive a 2017 KW T880 with a McNeilious Mixer.

I do my truck first, I never let contractors wash their hand tools before the mixer is washed. Some of them must assume your hooked to a well, the way they use our water.

One of these turned over right in front of me. 10 truck behind me waiting... The truck couldn't put the outriggers on the right side due to re-bar laying down... and something had happened. The entire boom landed across the street.. exactly 1" from a museum wall.. I took pictures of all that..

Just wondering... why don't ready mix truck just load up with dry cement, sand, gravel mixed in that truck then bring seperate water tank so you could just add water once you're on the site?
@Gregoryruger7 жыл бұрын
I like that idea..!
@simonnyman90316 жыл бұрын
In my company it has to do with the customer, some don't at all like if you add some water when you're there as it changes the mixture they ordered from the factory.
@arguswil6 жыл бұрын
Its all about the mix being done in a controled enviroment. Also most jobsites have limited space. There are more variables that come into play but its just easier to have it done on one site then deliver when needed.
@Rebecca-zr2zx6 жыл бұрын
Because you would need 330 plus gallon tank on the side of your truck to be adding to a 10 yard load to be able to get the slump to a 4".

Water isn’t the only liquid in concrete. There’s all kinds of liquid add mixtures that go into different mixes. Liquid calcium, entrapped air, water reducer, retarder, hydration stabilizer. It’s at least 6 more liquids that are added at the plant. Cool video bro. After I wash down I open my water valve to the drum for an extra rinse in the drum also to clear any mud on the water spout that might set up.

that truck was only one month old when I filmed this, and I don't like it and do my best to stay professional if they do run me out of water.:)

When you waahing the fins off in the drum how do you get rid of the water so it dont throw off the amount of water you need for the next load? May be a dumb question but i haven't started the job yet .lol
@Gregoryruger3 ай бұрын
@@jamesgoodwin1290 a good driver will have about 5 to 7 gallons in their drum when they return to the plant, the plant operator will assume there is about 10 gallons in the drum so he will adjust or he will have you backflush which means get the water out of the drum

ready mix driver from Chicago in the house. good video but some honest mistakes. climbing on the bar.. don't wanna get your fingers stuck between the rollers. was also waiting on the 360 with your chute while doing your wash down.. wanna get behind that Boot. also add a couple of gallons after washing down wanna get those second pair of fins in that drum. spray that drum as well and hit those tags. overall was a B+ good video though favorite jobs of course are pump jobs.

I turn the water nozzle upwards. Spraying towards the first large fin behind the small fin. It creates a waterfall effect behind the fins. Still doesn’t get absolutely everything, but it’s worked well for more me. Haven’t had my drum hammered in over two years.

I must say that first I have no idea what shaking the hose does for anything second you never ever put your hand on the drum while it is in motion. If you wanna scrub it use a brush because I have crushed my fingers and seen others loose their fingers and hands from putting them on a drum in motion. A little snag from a piece of metal or concrete on the drum catches your glove and your done. There is no time to think it's over in a flash. Spending more time on your fins and the inside of the drum would be a good idea. Now with that said I am NOT a expert I am speaking from experience. Many years of experience. I would give your proper way a B+ if you wanted a grade. Putting your gloved hand on the drum was a bad bad thing.
