Now I need the rear wheel walkthrough video please! Just bought an xcaliber9!

Nothing about how a newbie should hold the bike to get the wheel back on. It's not as easy when you've just pulled your bike out of the back of the car and are trying to put a wheel on in a trail parking lot.
@terrynb19224 жыл бұрын
No it's not! Easiest way for me was to flip it on its back. Carry a beach towel to lay in the ground so it won't mess up your bike or framework. And a hammer - to whack that lever closed! I can't close it with my hand.
@JamieR5 ай бұрын
@@terrynb1922 Then it's too tight. You can damage the bearings if it's too tight. It should be hand tight, but leave marks in the hand. Else it's too loose.
@thesteveus2 ай бұрын
I have a Trek Excal 9 but there is no nut to tighten by hand on the other end of the skewer, only a socket that I can't really make out how to hold, I'm sure it's simple but what am I missing?

Interestingly, Trek post this just as they are issuing a massive recall worldwide on their QR's; should they have mentioned this on the video perhaps? Trek, you should have come clean right here to save injury, I have 3 of your bikes - all new - and I would have appreciated info about the recall right here on this video....

@@jessie4304 that and the brake must’ve gotten squeezed in my trunk so I was actually putting it on the wrong way because i couldn’t fit it in the right way. Lol the sales guy said “you literally cannot put this on wrong”. He was wrong. I had to take it back to the store for help. Thanks

The fact that the company doesn't even respond to their customers on their "training" videos says a lot about their values.
@terrynb19224 жыл бұрын
I'll put it like this... When I put mine on the other night... The tire goes in easy when it's "incorrect". And incorrect is when that break thing is hitting the spokes. Turn it around the other way and work to get that gear intó the gear slot. (Small gear) I had a hard time getting that gear into the slot but it finally did and slid right in when I got it in the right place. It was a very frustrating 10 minutes trying to figure it out. I could easily put the tire in on the incorrect side! The correct side Was testing my patience. Almost loaded the bike up and took it back to the shop but they were closed. And that lever.??? I had to whack it with a hammer just to get it to close down. I put a towel over it and whacked it. The girl at the shop made it look so easy She just flipped it open and flipped it closed. But it was killing my hand when I was trying to close it.

Is this in response to the recall, if so your a bit late
@Vermonstered9 жыл бұрын
Mega Marsh Mallows In HD It's listed IN the recall paper to refer to their KZbin channel. The funny thing is that there's actually nothing wrong with the current quick release skewer they're using besides the fact it opens more than 180 degrees. If you secure it correctly, as in actually closing the quick release with enough pressure, you'll not have a problem. The only reason there's a recall is that people were riding with open quick releases and because they could open more than 180 degrees could get caught in the brake disc causing the wheel to lock up. With a million bikes affected and over 16 years there's been a total of 3 incidents of injury occurring from this.. Trek is going above and beyond here...
@TrailChasers9 жыл бұрын
they rode with OPEN quick releases?!?!? this is why i ride a 20mm thru axle
@Vermonstered9 жыл бұрын
Mega Marsh Mallows In HD Do you see how very basic these videos are? Have you read any of the articles on the recall? People rode on OPEN quick releases which led to 3 injuries in 16 years because the OPEN quick release lever could get caught in the brake disc. Has nothing to do with having a through axle or not (though it's harder to improperly install a through axle wing nut), just improper use. This is the same logic as to why we have retaining or "lawyer" tabs on the drop outs. To try and prevent injury due to improper use. Being that the quick releases were from a 3rd party supplier this likely isn't solely a Trek problem but so far they're the only one doing the recall.

Townie Path 9D - do you connect the brakes? I have only done this one time. Can't remember if you connector disconnect brakes? I was told not to press the brakes when doing this, but I didn't disconnect or reconnect brakes? Brakes work fine though. Bike stops when I want it too.
@terrynb19224 жыл бұрын
And as for that lever...,? It is SO tight to open or close, I have to get a hammer and towel and whack it. It's not going to willy nilly open or close on its own.
@MissSammyjane1007 жыл бұрын
Have found another guy from bicycles Etc who's way better... no offence :-D Showed how the disc brake slides between pads and can jam which was my problem. Showed the lever is on the side of the brake. Only just started riding and dont yet understand mechanics of a bike. Show newbies this stuff plz. Also another vid showed good and bad position of lever. So im not a complete idiot when shown properly. This post is for others looking on line like me. But this vid keeps getting first in line. Try Bicycles etc.
